Implement data processing sequences as outlined by Chief Field Geophysicist. Assist in seismic
data Quality Assurance in liaison with the department chiefs and regional GeoSupport. Test newly
developed or acquired software and new or advanced processing procedures FUNCTIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To be responsible for in-depth analysis of seismic data and QC products.
Ensure that seismic data acceptance adheres to sound geophysical principles and conforms to
survey specifications, and client operational needs. Perform data analysis to determine if
operationally efficient acquisition techniques will impact the seismic data quality. 2. Assist Chief
Field Geophysicist with seismic data processing. This includes, but is not limited to: a. Building,
submission and QC of test and production job sequences and the resulting output. b. Identification
and, where possible, resolution of problems with specific jobs. If unable to resolve, refer the
problem to senior personnel after supplying all relevant data. 3. Interpret velocities, build and QC
velocity fields. 4. Keep abreast of developments within seismic data processing and
communication/ data transfer techniques and stay current with company geophysical software. 5.
Perform and analyse parameter testing jobs. Ensure that results are clearly presented with
relevant recommendations. 6. Support the Chief Field Geophysicist (CFG) in the production of
non-acquisition products and in the administrative aspects of the CFG role. 7. Promptly produce
reports that include project status and resource requirements as and when requested.
