Environment - Support of 150 applications databases on various environments. The SQL versions used are SQL 2000, SQL 2005, SQL 2008, SQL 2008 R2 and 2012. Out of 50 production servers, 35 servers are in VMware environment. SQL Server clustering and SAN level replications are key technologies implemented for high availability solution.


Roles:

• Installation, Administration of SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2 and SQL 2012
• Involved in live data center movement from one place to other place(3 month project)
• Upgrading SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 and SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2/SQL 2012(In-Place upgrade / Side by side upgrade) and SQL 2005 to SQL 2008.
• Having good experience in Installing, Monitoring and Troubleshooting SQL Cluster, Mirroring, Log Shipping.
• Implementing Database maintenance plan for Database consistence & Integrity.
• Shrinking the Data files and log files if more free space is available.
• Creating the Jobs using maintenance Plans for Full, Differential and transactional log backups.
• Managing SQL Server Logins, Database users and user permissions.
• Developing the successful Backup strategies based on Recovery models.
• Recovery of Database at the time of Database crashes or data loss.
• Raising the change management request and following up with the customer approval, for making any changes in the production server
• Performing SQL Server database performance analysis and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance.
• Maintaining and Monitoring Production, Pre-Production and Development database server environment.
• Installing Reporting Services on an existing SQL Server Instance
• Synchronizing Production and UAT environments.
• Applying Security updates, hot fixes and SP up gradation on all servers.
• Having Experience Installing, Monitoring and Troubleshooting of SSRS & SSIS
• Configuring new build servers with HP Open view monitoring
• Verify and work on alerts generated by the HPOV (Monitoring tool)
• Restoring the databases in various environments based on the client request (Both SQL Native and TDP restore)

Key Highlights in CBQ:
• Worked with virtualization project for SQL servers.
• Worked with SQL consolidation, upgrade and cost saving project in CBQ and saved around 5 million USD by consolidating and virtualization the SQL servers.
• Successfully migrated the datacenter from one place to other place.
• Experience with storage migration project from HP to Netapp and EMV Clarion to VNX & VMX for SQL standalone and cluster Servers.

Responsibilities
• Installation of SQL server 2005/2008 on Development and Production
• Servers, setting up databases, users, roles and permissions.
• Involved in migration from SQL2000 to SQL2005/2008.
• Implemented automated backup and database maintenance /
• cleanup jobs
• Managing Logins, Users, Roles and User permissions.
• Involved in development of automated daily, weekly and monthly system
maintenance tasks such as database backup, replication verification, and
database integrity verification and indexing updates.
• Running Trace from the Profiler to trouble shoot database and running DBCC
consistency checks for other database maintenance aspects.
• Setup profiler traces for slow running queries & analyze load file thru query
tuning wizard.
• Setup the maintenance jobs in all Servers schedule to run at various times.
• Implemented Disaster Recovery Plan by maintaining Backups and performing the
restoring of the system and user databases
• Established and maintained Security Integrity controls in conjunction with the
applications and security groups and maintained the required level of security for
all production and test databases.
• Suggested Backup Strategies and scheduled the Backups & Restoration for
Databases and Transaction log.
• Configured and implemented Mirroring and Snapshot for SQL Server 2005.
• Periodically checked all databases with DBCC commands for maintaining data
consistency and integrity.
• Prepared Estimates for Database, table size growth.
• Created documentation to install SQL Server, apply service pack, hot fix and
clustering installation.
• Solving Troubleshooting problems like Database Corruption and restoration of
backups in case of accidental update, deletes.
