This position plays a critical role within the organization in that emphasis is placed on maximising spending efficiency and obtaining maximum benefits and protection for Qatar Airways in all negotiations and agreements.
My key responsibilities include but not limited to deal, under the minimum supervision, with the contractual work of the Department as allocated which includes:
• To review, analyse, negotiate and settle the terms of contracts and supervise activities related to contracts for buying or selling of equipment, products, or services.
• To review, analyse, negotiate and draft operational and aviation industry contracts, in such areas as Ground Handling, Commercial, In-flight Products and Services and Catering.
• To review, analyse, and negotiate service contracts. Support the Company across all service related contracts and ensure that the contracts entered into comply with all applicable policies and procedures and are beneficial to Qatar Airways with minimal exposure to risk.
• Additionally provide expert assistance and support to other Qatar Airways departments in terms of contract interpretation and implementation.
• Vetting and drafting of commercial contracts such as International Services, Interconnect, Sub-marine Cable Operations, Procurement and Information Technology Services Agreements etc.
• Legal Opinion work Policy Issues, Regulatory, Corporate & Commercial Matters, Labour Laws in the telecommunication sector.
• Manage and handle legal issues relating to Procurement, International Services and Land.
• Coordinate with regions throughout Pakistan regarding legal matters and where necessary to represent the company in person as and when
required.
• Engage, supervise and Coordinate with legal counsels to represent the company in various fora.
• Assist legal counsels in preparation and drafting of legal documents.
• Company matters, Drafting of Commercial Documents like Mortgage Deeds, Charge Registration, Loan Facility Transactions and registration of charges at Security & Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
• Litigation matters - case preparation and appearances in various Courts involving civil and corporate matters.
• Drafting and Vetting of Plaints, Petitions and Appeals on various Matters.
• Verification of Records/Documents from various Authorities.
• Drafting and vetting various and agreements.
• Incorporation of companies.
• Legal research and legal opinion writing.
• Case preparation.
• Research and Comparative Studies.
• Preparation of legal memoranda, vetting of various agreements.
During My Masters Programme at Sussex University, I got an opportunity of working for a Solicitors Firm.
• Assisted in drafting, execution and registration of Conveyance Deeds and Mortgages.
• Research and preparation on cases for County Courts.
Subjects studied: International Commercial Law, Company Law, International Trade and Investment Laws, European Union Laws, Law of International Sales of Goods. An Aggregate of 57%. Dissertation: Corporate Rescue Regimes in United Kingdom and United States.
Course Contents: Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, English Law, Law of Contract, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Law of Evidence, Land Law, Equity and Trusts Law, Company Law, Law and Development studies. Grade: Third Class with Honours.
Course consisted of Law, Economics, Social Sciences and Accounting. Course assessment consisted of Essays and written Examination. Grade: PASS.
