Nature of Work. The Consultant shall serve as a program Manager for the Center’s International Department. The Consultant shall work with Arab Civitas Country program directors to ensure institutional and financial sustainability of civic education programs. The Consultant shall be a member of the Center’s Arab Civitas Team. He/she will coordinate with the Director of International Programs is Calabasas, California, the Senior Program Manager for Arab Civitas in Washington D.C. and other staff at the Center’s U.S. offices and the regional support unit in Jordan. The consultant will also work directly with the country directors, Arab leaders, and U.S. government representatives to ensure stakeholder buy-in, review and implement annual plans, and regularly monitor and report on project results. The Consultant shall report to Jay taylor, Senior program manager, International programs.
Scope of Work: the consultant key responsibilities include:
• Advising Arab Civitas country program directors on grant compliance and program management, including development of annual plans and program monitoring
• Assisting country program directors on developing and updating plans for long-term institutional and financial sustainability
• Working with country program directors to develop and maintain working relationships with host-government representatives, with counterparts in host-country offices of U;S; funding agencies, including the U.S. Department of state, USAID, and with partners in the private sectors.
• Developing knowledge of civic education programs and policymaking environment in Arab Civitas countries
• Conduct technical assistance visits to Arab Civitas country program sites
• Communicating regularly via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings with Center counterparts in Washington D.C. and Calabasas to support program implementation
• Undertaking other projects, as assigned, consistent with the above responsibilities.

Through the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights ( EIDHR) This project “ Violence Against Children in The Arab World” translates into concrete action the objectives and priorities commonly agreed by Mediterranean partners. They focus on education, training, awareness raising, action in favour of good governance and democracy as well as protection of vulnerable groups, not least, children.
I was responsible for planning, executing the objectives of this conference: to raise awareness of children’s rights and propose actions based on a clear, commonly agreed, strategy to fight violence and;
To highlight the devastating effect of violence on children and society at large.
I was also responsible for managing the implementation of all day-to-day projects: The participating countries were seven Arab countries: Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. Members of the delegations submitted 32 working papers. There were specialists in: media, law, medicine, literature, art, education, psychology, social and health guidance, religion and others. . Five Workshops took place and a publication of conference proceedings in a book was published.
