As Project Environmental Manager for construction Package NPP0032 (Commercial Terminals Infrastructure & Buildings), the roles and responsibilities includes :
• Overseeing the implementation of environmental monitoring activities on site.
• Providing technical support in the process of submission for environmental approvals/ licenses.
• Ensuring that all key personnel from site construction team are fully conversant with the EMP and that activities are planned and conducted such that they comply with the environmental requirements.
• Identifying the training needs of personnel and subcontractors, prepare training programs/activities and maintain training records.
• Preparing any required Guidelines/Standard Operating Procedures for maintenance and monitoring activities.
• Reviewing method statements on different activities and suggest improvements to the construction teams to ensure that environmental risks are identified and appropriate controls are developed and included in the document prior to every activity initiation.
• Disseminating environmental management procedures to all relevant personnel on site.
• Establishing and communicating environmental requirements for the planning, selection and management of subcontractors.
• Monitoring and auditing the work of the internal team and subcontractors against contractual requirements.
• Reviewing and reporting on the effectiveness of environmental controls and environmental management practices.
• Collating, reviewing and reporting on maintenance and monitoring outcomes.
• Inspecting work sites and managing field monitoring and data compilation.

Drive the CEO Water Mandate Initiative in HCC Group Companies.
Main responsibilities:
· Coordination with sites and other water related agencies (United Nations,
UNGC, WEF, AWS, WRI, TERI, MoWR, GoI, State Governments, etc.).
· Actively participate in organization of Private Water Session at World
Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit & Working Conferences of the
United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
· Research alternate technologies to reduce water usage on sites.
· Implement alternate technologies on sites and document the same.
· Plan, coordinate and implement the water conservation measures on sites.
· To ensure use of alternate methods under the mandate and monitor
regularly on sites to ensure the effective usage of water on sites
· Work as a link between the sites and Head Office to carry out the CEO
Water Mandate
Additional responsibilities:
· To assist other colleagues in the CSR department in executing the work
under their respective HCC-CSR Mandate i.e. Disaster Resource Network
(DRN) program, HIV/AIDS intervention, Health program, Sustainability,
Municipal Solid Waste Management, and Community
Engagement/Development.
· Guide EHS professionals on site for improved compliance to the HCC’s
Integrated Management System requirement in general, and compliance to
the regulatory requirement with regards to water and wastewater, in
particular.
· Advice environmental team of other group companies (HCC Real Estate,
LAVASA, Steiner AG, etc.) on issues related to municipal solid waste
management, wastewater treatment, and effective site-wide environmental
management besides implementation of HCC’s Group CSR program.

Technical Support to Municipal Corporations
· Provide technical input and evaluate technical reports on matters related to
municipal solid waste, sustainable transport, drinking water supply, wastewater,
sanitation, renewables & energy efficiency, climate change, urban planning,
mandatory reforms and e-governance, etc. as per the requirements of municipal
corporations and GTZ-ASEM,
· Conduct and participate in consultations with project stakeholders with a view
to ensure their interests as well as community participation,
· Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation tools in line with the
activity requirements under the project,
· Provide inputs for dissemination of various achievements/ information on
project/initiatives/opportunities available under the program,
· Undertake baseline studies wherever required.
Capacity Building and Awareness Rising Tasks
· Coordinate with GTZ-ASEM in Delhi and the training institutions in
developing HRDP operational plan 2010,
· Assistance in organization of workshops, international conferences, round
tables etc. with relevant stakeholders from time to time as per HRDP

Municipal Corporation, RWA’s, Community etc. including overseas training
and training programs through other institutions that are partnering with GTZASEM,

3. Consultancy
Assisted Professor Asolekar in execution of several consultation projects mostly related to water and wastewater management.
Responsibilities: Over all management of the projects, visits to client site, collection of primary & secondary data, treatability studies, process design, report writing etc
Project:Delineation and dissemination of green corporate accounting procedures - with case studies in medium sized Textile, Pharmaceutical and chemical Industries sponsored by the World Bank
Responsibilities: Overall management of the project including literature review, report writing, material, water, and energy audit, EIA, analysis of various water & wastewater parameters, industry-wise data analyses, diagnosis, and suggestions for improvement in existing, HSE facility in concerned industry and articulation of recommendations.
PhD dissertation: Treatment of wastewater using natural systems The specific objectives of the research were (1) Assessment of sewage treatment plants based on natural systems in India -Visits to the representative STPs based on natural systems including waste stabilization ponds, duckweed ponds, constructed wetlands, and sewage-fed-aquaculture. -Primary and secondary data collection about their respective performance. (2) Development of a rational procedure for design of waste stabilization ponds; and -Estimation of oxygen mass transfer coefficient in simulated pond, and -Development of a stepwise procedure for design of waste stabilization ponds. Masters thesis: Fly ash utilization in agriculture This project was executed at the Grasline power plant, Grasim Industries Limited, Harihar, Karnataka, India. The objective of the research was to investigate potential of fly ash application in agriculture as well as in agro-forestry. The candidate plants selected for the research were Eucalyptus (an agro-forestry plant and the raw material of the host industry) and tomato (an agricultural produce near fly ash dump sites in the near-by villages). Other Assignments: -“Dewas as environmental hot spot for water – assessment and management scenario" : This project was undertaken as a part of the course works in the M. Sc. (Tech.) programme at Institute of Environment Management and Plant Sciences, Vikram University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India. -Field work : Current status of Dewas Industrial Area (M.P).
