•Procure materials required by the corporation as per MAPHCO’s Procurement & Contracts Procedures using ORACLE.
•Develop alternative sources of supply, particularly for the vital materials that are highly critical for the operations.
•Identify opportunities for establishing partnership with key suppliers for the establishment of long-term price agreements that will derive in a more effective procurement cycle.
•Prepare the annual Vital Materials Procurement Plan, in conjunction with the Plants Managers, based on consumption statistics of the previous year and budget figures. This task must be done immediately after the preparation of the annual budget for the next year.
•Work together with the Operations Division as a team to negotiate the supply for high volume and high value materials, using MAPHCO’s purchasing total volume to obtain discounts.
•Provide consultation and assistance to operations personnel on materials subject.
•Promote and recommend, together with Company/Material Engineer, the use of standard materials whenever possible.
•Form teams with operations personnel for negotiating capital equipment purchases.
•Assist in the liquidation of surplus and obsolete materials.
•Establish strong working relationships with the users. Visit sites to discuss problems encountered and find solutions.
•Establish a strong link to the Government Relations Section, to work together in the Customs Exemption Approval Process.
•Establish a strong working relationship with the freight forwarder and the Customs Clearance Agent to ensure fast delivery of the imported goods.
•Review annually the Certified Supplier Program and based on the performance of the suppliers, make the necessary adjustments.
•Determine the efficiency of the section by measuring the Key Performance Indicators of the purchasing function and report it to the management on a quarterly basis.
•Interact actively with the Corporate Inventory Controller in the management of the Warehouse Inventory.
