Duties and Responsibilities: (Includes but not limited to)
• In-charge of overall flow of the unit.
• Make rounds to nursing unit daily.
• Supervises the work of other licensed nursing staffs.
• Indicates the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Represents the unit on various committees.
• Front line in JCI, ISO, HAAD, EHSMS accreditations and reaccreditations.
• Performs patient care responsibilities.
• Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients of varying age groups.
• Blood extraction and proper specimen collection.
• Adherence to standard precautions and infection control policies.
• IV insertion and medication administration.
• Formulation and revision of nursing care plan.
• Pain management techniques.
• Blood and blood products transfusion.
• Indwelling Foley catheter insertion, NGT insertion.
• Carrying out physicians order accurately.
• Wound dressing; monitoring of wound drains, and assisting the surgeon in removal.
• Assessment and proper management of postoperative complications.
• Proper handling of medical equipments such as Cardiac Monitor, ECG machine, Biphasic Defibrillator, Automated External Defibrillator, Blood warmer, IV infusion pump, IV syringe pump, CTG machine, Wall mounted Suction and Oxygen, Glucometer, Incentive spirometer.
• Computer based documentation of patient care.

• General Surgery: Thyroid Surgeries, Laparoscopic surgeries: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair, THD, Hemorrhoidectomy, Fissurectomy, Sphincterotomy, Mass and Cyst Excision (Lipoma, Sebaceous, Pilonidal)
• Opthalmology: Intravetrial injection, Removal of Chalazion, Cataract Extraction, Pterygium Excision.
• ENT: Tympanoplasty, Tympanostomy, Turbinectomy, Antrostomy, Ethmoidectomy, Septoplasty, FESS, Nasal Polypectomy, Adenoidectomy, Tonsillectomy, Sleep Study (Polysomnography).
• Dental: Tooth Extraction/ Restoration/ Filling under General Anesthesia
• Orthopedics: Arthroscopy with menisectomy, ACL reconstruction, ORIF, Ganglion Cyst Excision
• Ob-Gynecology: Cesarean Section, Normal Deliveries, Hysteroscopy, Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, Myomectomy, Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy, D and C.

Duties and responsibilities: (Includes but not limited to)
• Performs triage, while considering both physical and psychosocial elements.
• Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
• Endotracheal Intubation and Defibrillation.
• Basic ECG interpretation.
• Assist in minor surgeries.
• Gives direct nursing care.
• Works with physicians, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments.
• Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, IM, IV).
• Provides IV therapy.
• Cleans and bandages wounds.
• Identifies nursing needs of patients.
• Takes and records vital signs.
• Observes signs and symptoms, institutes remedial action when appropriate and records these in chart.
• Reports significant observation to the physician.
• Acts as liaison between patients and hospital personnel.
• Prepares patients for and assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Accompany the physicians during rounds and carries out doctor’s legal orders.
• Exercise economy and sees to it that equipment receive proper care and maintenance.
• Participates in any and all activities related to the smooth running of the ward.
