Fit and apply pre-operative braces and crutches
Assist in preparing and applying casts and orthopedic appliances
Remove sutures, casts, and splints
Assist with orthopedic procedures, including wound care and fracture reductions
Provide advice to patients regarding the care of casts
Set up traction as requested by the physician and assess patients in traction
Manage stock and equipment according to Hospital policy
Ensure that expected health and safety standards are maintained.
Responsible for taking consent from the patient prior the treatment.
Provide care to the patients with osteoporosis, genetic malformation, arthritis, osteoarthritis, and any other types of bone disease.
Responsible for preparing the patient and all the materials/equipment needed prior to the procedure.
Provide assistance to the orthopedic surgeon during procedure e.g. arthrocentesis intra-articular injection or aspiration, removing of suture, wound care, applying of cast and splint.
Provide instructions to the patient on how to care the cast/splint, how to use orthopedic appliances and rehabilitate their body after undergoing surgery.
Provide general education to the patient regarding musculoskeletal diseases and disorders; how they can be identified, remedy treatments and preventive methods.
Responsible for cleaning and stock the cast and soft goods room, order special supplies or equipment, and coordinate collection of patient data.
Assists physician with orthopedic casting procedures to include the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints.
Assists with routine examination and treatment procedures to include cleaning wounds and applying dressings.
Provides continuity of post-op care casting, splinting and bracing, and documents all treatment in patient medical records.
Assists physician with medication, medical supplies/equipment during minor office/clinic procedures involving incisions, excisions, sutures etc.
Maintains appropriate par level of supplies, medication and instruments, placing orders in timely fashion.
Maintains exam rooms and cast room fully stocked and ensures that the rooms are cleaned after each patient.
Facilitates patient flow and assist physician with coordination of patient care.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
