Estudio Fern EIRL is a slow fashion and retail start-up which, alongside its own brand GARUA, is dedicated to advancing Peruvian design and providing a space for innovative local designers to showcase their work.
My role is focused on the design and implementation of a governance system to support operations, as needs continue to rapidly evolve.
So far I have setup bespoke solutions for tracking inventory of over 3, 800 unique items, financial oversight and forecasting, personnel contracts and salaries, and account management of more than 90 suppliers and retail outlets.
I oversaw all the beekeeping in the family coffee farm and supported the reduction of their environmental footprint. All the hives were renewed and expanded from just 11 to 35. All beekeeping related activities, from queen rearing to disease management were learnt through self-study and 2 courses at the Universidad Nacional Agraria in La Molina, Lima, Peru.
Regarding the farm's general operations, I supported the introduction of improved fiscal oversight and planning policies, coupled with continual improvement on its environmental footprint through improved waste and water management practices.
As a part of the University's "Diplomado en Comunicación Corporativa y Desarrollo Sostenible" I developed and delivered a section on how to work with international organisations with the aim of supporting Peru's sustainable development. The aim was to make students aware of the role that IGO's play, as well as the private sector's own vast potential to actively contribute to Peru's development agenda.
