Moving away from the more traditional Sourcing activities, this position incorporated much of my previous technology experience in refining the end-to-end Sourcing processes within a fully web-enabled environment, whilst providing strategic and tactical support to multiple, diverse category teams.
• Development and support lead in large-scale smart-tooling project, with the key objective to deliver a project resource management and tracking system, and BI dashboards incorporating various data sources
• Responsible for regional spend, savings and KPI data analysis covering 14 countries and annual spend in excess of $1.2b
• Lead support in refining the global target setting process, reducing the overall annual project lead time from 8 weeks to 6 weeks, reducing workload for hundreds of senior managers throughout the company
• Dedicated consultancy and support for global web app development team in producing pilot applications to be used by 2000+ users worldwide
• Complete redesign of Western Europe hub internal website to integrate all facets of the software retooling through one local source
• Key driver in adoption of social media techniques to promote collaboration across regional teams
With the wholesale decrease in newspaper circulation and the rise of online media as its natural replacement, the focus within this dynamic global organisation was to build a solid portfolio of online and mobile products with which to continue its historic success.
• Contract management support in high-profile, multi-year core systems initiative, overhauling the historic media technology landscape and replacing with an holistic Cloud-based platform
• Category management of annual spend exceeding £50m covering all software, hardware and professional services contracts across the full technology remit - realising savings of £4m through multiple rationalisation phases and face-to-face supplier negotiations
• Implementation of a contract and software asset management suite to improve the ongoing procurement management process, proactively manage contract and license renewals and monitor supplier governance
• Introduced and piloted lean online auction process during a project to refresh enterprise hardware, producing an 18% cost reduction on future hardware spend, estimated to be £450kpa
• Lead procurement advisor for the introduction of a purchasing portal to streamline the ordering of IT hardware and software through integration of a SAP module with a user-friendly web interface
The role was a hybrid procurement manager and specialist e-Sourcing role with a high level of direct customer contact; working for a small procurement-focused software boutique.
• Lead consultant on a complex 7-month facilities management project, managing 62 online auctions with a multitude of components suppliers, encompassing £28m of annual spend. Achieved post-auction savings of £3.2m for the client
• Rapid delivery of £450k saving through online RFQ and auction project spanning just 10 days, interacting with global vendors on the wholesale supply of optical fibre
• Designed and introduced a novel forward auction process to aid hardware resell for a telecoms client
• Produced all marketing materials and served as technical specialist during client pre-sales demonstrations
• Developed multivariate scoring algorithm for automated analysis of post-auction results
A leading global telecoms, network hardware and services provider employing 115, 000 people globally, with an annual revenue exceeding £20 billion. During this period, Ericsson was investing heavily in a new eSourcing initiative.
• Procurement lead in high-profile project to select core engineering and design services provider, awarding a 3-year deal accounting for work packages totalling £9m annually. Negotiations resulted in off-shoring the design services to India; producing significant cost reduction of £3.5m over the lifetime of the contract
• Initially contracted as an e-Sourcing Manager in March 2007 to design and implement a full e-Sourcing aligned process for post and pre-sales
• From January 2008, transferred to permanent role as Sourcing Manager in Telecoms Field Services
• Expansion of role to support all commodity teams as eSourcing Champion, leading strategy on over 120 events
• Selected for a short-term assignment in Ireland, facilitating multiple contract negotiations, pre-sales tenders and audit-compliance reviews
• Received award for ‘pioneering behaviour’ in support of pre-sales opportunity; ultimately safeguarding £20m of profit over 5 years
• Executed a proposal for an alternative networking technology within a customer solution, generating project-wide cost savings in excess of £350k
