• Assist the Communications Supervisor in carrying out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities on communications systems covering Multi-Service Network (MSN), Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Passenger Information System (PIS) & Public Address System (PAS), Time Domain System (TDS), Digital Voice & Video Recording System (DVVR), Intrusion Alarm System (IAS), Telephone System, On-Board Communication System (OBS), Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) and Operation Control System (OCS).
• Install, service and repair communication system located in operations control centre, communication equipment room, stations and station communication equipment rooms, depots and depot communication equipment rooms, along trackside and on-board trains.
• Carry out repair and maintenance work with the use of hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and reference to technical drawings, schematics, manuals, procedures and instructions.
• Replace faulty communication equipment, handover/taken back to the electronics workshop for repair.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records of communications system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
• Ensure the maintenance tools and equipments are maintained in good condition both before and after job activities.
• Assist the Communication Team Leader and/ or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
• Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
• Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Communications Team Leader.
• Installation and termination of PAS (Public Address System), PIS (Public Information System), PCR (Proximity Card Reader), MDC (Magnetic Door Contact), IAS (Intrusion Alarm System) and Motion Detectors.
• Installation, termination, configuration and focusing of (Pelco - IP110 and Sarix) CCTV camera. Rectification and Troubleshooting included.
• Structured Cabling including layout, laying of CAT-6 and fiber optic cable.
• Rack assembling and equipment installation.
• Installation of IDF and MDF, harness and dressing of CAT-6 and fiber optic cables.
• Termination of CAT-6 and fiber optic cable inside patch panels.
• Cable testing both copper and fiber using DTX Analyzer (Fluke Networks).
• Testing and labeling of CAT-6 and fiber optic cable inside patch panels.
• Termination, testing and labeling of FTTO (Fiber to the office), FTTH (Fiber to the home).
• Termination, testing and labeling of outlet points.
• Documentation and report.
