• Utilises existing curricula and lesson plans while incorporating creative teaching methods within an active learning environment in a variety of grade levels and subjects.

Took part in a teaching internship which included observing, assisting and teaching secondary English to years 7, 8 and 9 under the guidance of an experienced mentor teacher.
• Prepared differentiated, engaging lesson plans, created original resources and ongoing formative assessments in line with the UK national curriculum.
• Integrated the appropriate use of technology in the classroom through the use of smart boards, iPads and various online applications.

• Worked within a team of teachers to develop and teach a supplementary curriculum for elementary students (grades 2-7) in struggling governmental schools.

• Taught intensive English to freshman EFL students who graduated predominantly from Arabic, French, and German school systems.
• Created and adapted materials to engage the students and promote critical, analytical and creative thinking skills.
• Employed a variety of activities using authentic language to train the students in study skills including listening comprehension, note-taking, and oral presentations.

• Designed weekly lesson plans based on Virginia State standards to suit the English curriculum for grades 9, 10 & 11.
• Taught EFL to 7 classes in grades 9, 10 & 11 ranging from once to five times a week depending on their level.
• Prepared two 11th grade classes to sit for their SATs by conducting weekly test preparation sessions which included test-taking strategies as well going over practice tests.
• Tutored 10th grade students during and after school in reading strategies such as making predictions, paraphrasing texts and note-taking.
