Sr. Design Manager Job Responsibilities:
Design Leadership:
• Lead the design process for construction and development projects from concept to completion.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create innovative and functional designs.
• Ensure design consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Project Coordination:
• Act as the primary point of contact for design-related matters, facilitating communication between internal and external teams.
• Coordinate design team activities, ensuring alignment with project timelines and milestones.
• Oversee design documentation, including plans, drawings, specifications, and presentations.
Client Engagement:
• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and translate them into practical design solutions.
• Present design concepts and progress updates to clients, addressing feedback and incorporating changes as needed.
Design Review and Quality Control:
• Conduct design reviews at key project stages to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project goals.
• Identify potential design issues and propose solutions to mitigate risks and delays.

• Implement quality control measures to maintain high design standards throughout the project.
Resource Management:
• Manage design resources, including personnel and materials, to ensure efficient project execution.
• Coordinate with procurement and other teams to secure necessary resources for design development.
Project Budget and Schedule:
• Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
• Monitor design-related costs and ensure alignment with project financial goals.
• Identify opportunities for cost-saving and value engineering in the design process.
Regulatory Compliance and Permitting:
• Ensure that all design elements comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Work with permitting authorities to obtain necessary approvals for construction.
Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated on industry trends, design technologies, and best practices.
• Recommend process improvements and innovative design approaches to enhance project outcomes.

• discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project;
• consulting with other professionals about the design of an environment;
• preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client;
• advising the client on the practicality of their project;
• keeping within financial budgets and deadlines;
• producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications;
• specifying the nature and quality of materials required;
• preparing tender applications and presentations;
• negotiating with sub-consultants and other professionals;
• preparing tender documents for contracts;
• controlling a project from start to finish;

• Creating building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications;
• Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of a proposed project, including constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact and project budget.
• Working closely with a team of other professionals such as building service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and architectural technologists.
• Applying for planning permission and advice from governmental new build and legal departments.
• Adapting plans according to circumstances and resolving any related problems that may arise during construction.
• Playing a part in project and team management.
• Travelling regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
