Primary Responsibility:
Take charge of a faltering grass-roots NGL OSBL FEED project ten weeks after its commencement, improve its performance and complete the required work as soon as possible.
Position Overview:
Mobilize as PM with Single Point Accountability for the project. Identify, assess and remedy the underlying causes of the project’s significant variance from the planned progress, planned productivity and planned completion. Establish a credible revised project schedule and lead the team forward to complete the FEED package and FID cost estimate as close to the original planned completion date as possible.

PMC Project Manager and Team Leader for the ZADCO Brownfield Projects (BRFP-UZOP) Upper Zakum Switchgear Replacement Project. The objective of the project is to replace the existing ageing obsolescent 6.6kV and 380V Switchgear at ZADCO’s Upper Zakum Field with new, intelligent type switchgear of the latest proven technology to secure the availability of electrical assets on a long term basis, ensure sustained production and cater for ongoing projects and identified future loads. The project was conceived in 2008, the Conceptual studies were completed in 2011 and FEED commenced in April 2012. When the final FEED package was eventually submitted in 4th Qtr. 2014 it was found to contain numerous unresolved gaps in definition, feasibility and constructability that must be resolved prior to tendering. In February 2015 I accepted an offer to join the project as PMC Project Manager and lead the team in identifying, managing and closing the gaps in FEED and drive the project forward through tendering and award of the EPC Works.

Sr. Project Manager and integrated PMC/PMT Team Leader for the ZADCO MOSAICS Project (comprised of a phased program of location-specific and system-specific sub-projects) from initial commencement of the PMC contract in Feb 2001 through final completion of the PMC contract in April 2014. This project involved the phased modernisation of the SCADA & Instrument Control Systems throughout ZADCO’s offshore Upper Zakum Field and Zirku Island facilities, northwest of Abu Dhabi in the Arabian Gulf. Directly responsible for providing world-class project management expertise, directing the efforts of the combined WorleyParsons / ZADCO Project Management Team as well as managing the WorleyParsons PMC staff assigned to the project in various locations, including the client’s Abu Dhabi office, offshore facilities and various contractors’ facilities throughout the world. Directly responsible for optimising the Project’s contracting and implementation strategies, verifying and firming up the various contract scopes of work, developing the VAP Decision Support Packages, prequalifying potential bidders, establishing the recommended bidders’ list, and managing the tendering, award and subsequent project execution of numerous major EPC contracts, ensuring proper design, implementation, commissioning and handover of the facilities within defined Business Requirements, Optimisation Objectives, Statement of Requirements, Quality and HSE criteria, Budgets, Schedules, Contract and Change Management performance requirements, timeliness/responsiveness criteria, staffing (adequacy, competency, availability and continuity) criteria as well as System-specific Technical and Performance Requirements. Directly responsible for managing the offshore integrated PMC/PMT Site Supervision team at all work locations without the assistance of an offshore-based overall Construction Manager. Directly responsible to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Client’s offshore and island-based operations and maintenance teams and ensure effective working interfaces between all concerned PMC, Company and external parties associated with the project. Directly responsible to constantly assess and recommend adjustments to maintain the optimum way forward for the project in light of revised Stakeholder requirements, revised strategic priorities and revised/additional interfaces associated with multiple concurrent and forthcoming offshore projects. Directly responsible for providing periodic reports, presentations and routine project interface with ZADCO’s CEO, Senior Management Team, Remote Site Management Teams, Tender Board and ZADCO’s Shareholders. Successfully completed and closed out the MOSAICS Project’s phased program of subprojects within the approved budget/schedule with no lost time incidents, zero (0.00) TRCFR, no operational upsets, no loss of production, no contractor claims, minimum contract change orders (and those were limited to warranted adjustments arising from additional/revised project interfaces), zero non-conformances and full eligibility for the defined optimisation incentives while maintaining seamless continuity of the highly experienced PMC Core Team throughout the overall duration (13+ years) of the work.

These assignments included a five-month field assignment in Martinez, responsible for construction work associated with turbine driven compressor trains on a fast track rebuild project, and a compressor retrofit for Shell Wilmington that included start-up supervision & operator training. Also stationed in Japan for seven months, assigned to oversee the engineering and vendor inspection efforts of Parson’s Japanese partner and establish the manufacturing support and testing program for all of the rotating machinery and process equipment being fabricated in Japan.
