Role is to lead the design, build and commissioning of Data Centres, over 1000km of Outside Plant Cabling, Telephony and Data Systems and Infrastructure, Safety Systems and selected software solutions.

Establish an Informatics Roadmap (Business Portfolio of Initiatives)

Establish an EPMO (Enterprise Programme Management Office) to enable and manage the above portfolio. To embed best practice throughout the project & programme management delivery methodology

Operate and manage the EPMO for five years, ensuring professional, successful and efficient delivery of the Portfolio. To provide consultancy and advice on standards, best practice, and emerging trends best suited to meeting the vision and goals. Develop Clients own internal resource to enable the Directorate to be self-sustaining and managing of all portfolio initiatives in the future, culminating in a full knowledge transfer and handover

Role is to lead all activities within the EPMO and ensure the successful delivery of the associated Projects, Programmes and Initiatives in the Business Portfolio and 2020 Informatics Roadmap. DII(F) is the largest Systems Integration (SI) fully managed service contract in Europe, and has been implemented to replace the multiple, disparate legacy systems in use by the UK MoD, Armed Forces and Civil Service. It supports circa 150, 000 desktop devices, 320, 000 user accounts over 2, 000 locations worldwide. With an overall value in excess of £4Bn, and delivered by a consortium of 5 world class corporate entities as a Managed Service. EADS workshare is worth £400M
In order to achieve success the following changes / developments to EADS working practices were implemented:
• Adapted standard Quality Gate Process to support a multi site rollout programme (Now adopted as a pan European standard for similar Programmes)
• Led the improvement of Service Management delivery to the client using ITIL framework and 6Sigma techniques
• Developed SAP based EAC (Estimate at Completion) monthly review process which was included in the Programme Governance (Now also adopted as a European corporate standard for similar Programmes)
• Chaired monthly Programme Risk & Opportunity reviews
• As this was a first of type programme for EADS, championed and led the formation of a PMO capability from scratch
• Provided proactive Line Management and Development to a team of 420 at peak
• Championed and led the successful adoption of CMMI in DII Business Unit as first in EADS business
• Liaised with consortium partners and MoD client at Exec / Senior level
• Sponsored black-belt initiatives to improve working methods for delivering site rollout more efficiently and cost effectively. (Projected cost savings in excess of £1M across contract duration)
• Led and directed initiatives to drive down cost to complete, mitigate risk and improve margin. Resulting in a 50% improvement in the margin delivered
• Developed EADS existing break/fix service capability to a full 24X7X365 Managed Service operation against a contract SLA of 99.999% availability of service
• Established measurement and analysis techniques and reports which were used by client to monitor SLAs and KPIs

EADS International Campaign Support

In June 2009, as DII(F) was in ‘steady state delivery’ and transitioning in to Managed Service environment, was requested to bring expertise and experience to a number of International Campaigns, and assume the role of Campaign Director. These included:
• Indian MoD, TCS India Programme €185M value to EADS
• South African National Defence, Billet Programme €50M value to EADS
• NATO Brussels, New Headquarters ICT Programmes €100M+ value to EADS
• PRIS MO the Czech Republic equivalent of DII €200M value to EADS
