Physical count of controlled drugs must be completed and documented prior to the change of every shift by two licensed caregivers (outgoing Shift lead and Incoming Shift lead)
Resolve medication discrepancies in pyxsis prior to end of shift
Daily checks: Code Carts, Glucometers
Review of upcoming shift assignment; allocate staff for next day according to skill mix
Manage patient flow
Co-ordinate and assign beds with House Supervisor, Protocals and Global Patient Services
Discharges- inform House Supervisor of pending discharges
2 hourly rounding to keep updated with patient status
Co-ordinate with Case Manager staff for complex discharges if applicable (or GPS, Protocol Officer)
Use Chain of Command for any concerns (if after hours, email NM and ANM with any details of problematic issues on floor)
Check that WOW’s and equipment are plugged in and ready for next shift
Ensure that unit is tidy and ready for next shift
Provides direct patient care in assigned unit
A registered nursing at medical intensive care unit, Duties included care of Oncology, Cardiac, Gastro-enterology, Urology and Pneumology patients, responsible for total patient care, including medication, orders and treatments, assists the physicians in performing special procedures, under the direction and guidance of the Head Nurse, closely monitors cardiac and physical status of patient under his/her care, assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient’s physical condition, able to perform the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscita-tion accurately and effectively, keeps abreast of changing techniques in critical care nurs-ing and maintains a high level of expertise in critical care.
