My role in the capacity of internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps the organization to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.
Main Responsibilities:
Carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the organization's financial, physical and information resources are managed.
Undertaking Risk Assessment for each of the region offices and provide management with recommendations to mitigate this risk.
Reporting to VP of Finance, I Prepare audit packs and checklists for the monthly review of the financial statements.
Liaising with regional offices to assure the accuracy of information and financial figures are proper and accurate.
Prepare audit report with observations, effects of observation and recommendations on how to mitigate the risk
Carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the organization's financial, physical and information resources are managed.
Provide recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management's response and implementation
To review and report on the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of the financial and other information that is provided for management
Identified and evaluated risks associated with the Department’s processes, prepared audit programs and budgets and reported on the progress and findings to the board through the Managing Director.
Assessed internal documents that required MD approval, and identified operational risks and errors prior to approval and implementation.
Executed special investigation and ad hoc duties requested by the MD and/or the Audit Committee
Lead and execute multiple Financial, Risk, Compliance and Operational audits by evaluating the design of internal controls and testing their operational effectiveness to ensure key risks are mitigated to an acceptable level in relation to contractual, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
Prepared the allocation of the resources available to each phase of the audit assignment, the internal timetable schedule and budget for completing the audit project and submitted for the Audit Manager for review and approval.
Assist with the identification, analysis, and assessment of key risks and related critical processes and determine the scope and development of audit work programs with minimal supervision.
Supervise internal and external personnel during audit fieldwork.
Provide process or controls consulting services when needed on current or new procedures/systems under development or review.
Prepare financial statements and audit report as per IFRS and IAS for final review by the audit manager.
Planned, organized and implemented audits to clients
Implemented the detailed scope letter communicated and ensured that sufficient testing is done for the internal controls identified during the planning phase, confirming the conclusion on the internal controls design effectiveness.
Properly documented the work done and ensured that sufficient documentation is done and filed for the understanding of the business processes. Performed on the job detailed review of the working papers as and when an audit section is completed.
Participated in drafting the audit report, risk assessment reviews, recommendations on findings, and provided regular feedback to the Audit Manager on the status of each audit assignment.
Participated in conducting follow up assignments to ensure proper implementation of the corrective actions and recommendations raised in the final report.
Verification of stock count as well as attending AGM for public companies.
