Working with GE Power as an I&C Commissioning Engineer in an Ultra-supercritical (USC) Coal-fired power plant 4x600MW power plant fitted with GE’ s high efficiency ultra-supercritical technology, including boilers, steam turbines and generators.
I carried out activities mainly in the boiler, commissioning instruments like
- Transmitters of (pressure, temperature, level, flow).
- Pressure gauges, positioners for air, gas, and coal dampers.
- RTDs and Thermocouples.
- Positioners for control valves. Limit switches.
- Commissioning and Calibrating All ERVs before safety valves.
- Commissioning all the O2 analyzers (ABB).
- Commissioning all instruments in the lube oil skid of coal mills, PA Fans, ID Fans.
- Calculating airflow on the upper and lower SOFA.
Working with Siemens AG as an I&C commissioning engineer to commission, calibrate and troubleshoot all the field instruments, check out all I/O loops, made all logic and graphics modifications necessary and performed all start-up testing, at a Power Plant with eight modules, 4800MW CCPP.
Some of my Responsibilities:
- Flow, Level, Temperature Transmitter, control valve, motorized valve, Positioner, I/P converter, Indicator & controller, all types of mechanical gauges and SOV and all types of switches.
- Provide support in the site service, configuration, troubleshooting and upgrade of DCS.
- Assure product quality by testing finished products and system capabilities.
- Installation, Calibration and Preventive maintenance of Field Instrument like: Pressure,
- Site Inspection/ walk-down, project work & manpower planning.
- Loop Checks for the DCS, Cold Commissioning (CFT) and assistance during Hot Commissioning (HFT).
- Site Inspection/ walk-down, project work & manpower planning.
- Operation maintenance, Erection, Commissioning of DCS (T3000)
The project was a Thermal Power Station (2*627) MW.
For my responsibilities:
- Perform the maintenance and assistance in operating activities for 2 Steam Turbine GE G3 627 MW and 2 Conventional Boilers, 36 Burner (BABCOCK & WILCOX - Canada)
- Performing necessary troubleshooting and maintenance activities for all instruments in the field (Turbine instruments, Boiler instruments, different types of pneumatic and motorized valves) along with boiler and turbine Control system Mark VIe and Main DCS for the plant (Ovation)
- Reviewing and modifying, if necessary, the graphics and logic diagrams with daily and weekly reports to my manager about the routine works.
- Also, select the spare parts from the warehouse and organize with suppliers for needed spares.
- Instruments Make like " Fisher Valves, VEGA Level Switches, Rosemont Transmitters, ASCO Solenoid Valves, ABB O2 analyzers, ABB Bailey Pneumatic Positioners, Fisher Pneumatic valve positioner, SAMSON Electro-pneumatic valve positioner, FLOWSERVE Analog valve positioner, TYCO Butterfly valve, ROSS EUROPA control valve, KROHNE flow switch, WIKA flow switch, Emerson flow meter, etc...
