Responsibilities:
• Led the development and implementation of a full-scale strategy to integrate BIM within the Department of Construction and associated courses (refer Key Project for details).
• Develop a Business Plan to further employ BIM experts and set the future direction for BIM software adoption, producing key strategies for staff training and professional development.
• Prepare and give lectures, workshops and tutorials to students.
• Give academic advice to students and supervise their research.
• Carry out research, write reports and publish articles on key subject area as well as attending conferences.
• Provide training to internal staff and colleagues.
Key Project:
• BIM Adoption, Implementation and Integration Strategy (2011-12): Produced a long term strategy to take an industry lead in Building Information Modelling. This involved many brainstorming sessions with BIM experts worldwide. Concisely filtered and streamlined various ideas to fit into an educational environment.
Highlights:
Developed a multi-pronged approach to immediate, medium and long-term strategic integration of BIM into existing paradigms and course outlines.
Created a model on Revit to showcase to staff members the full integration of BIM with Exactel’s CostX for 5D operations such as Quantity Take-Off and Cost Estimation.
Initiated the acquisition of Vico Office Suite for lab use. Unitec is currently the only tertiary training organisation in New Zealand to trial the Vico suite for 4D and 5D operations.
Conducted testing in the interoperability of BIM applications between BIM authoring tools and Construction Management tools. Successfully developed a system of procedures, to fully customise a model to work seamlessly in Naviswork for 4D operations, including clash detection and construction simulations.
Major Achievements:
• Brought in to lead a team in developing a long-term strategy for implementing BIM. This was achieved by integrating BIM in a modular fashion into various courses and further through the development of a BIM protocol.
• Awarded further responsibilities as a Course Coordinator within one year. Currently coordinating two flagship courses for Bachelor of Construction and National Diploma in Architectural Technology.
• Often called on to deliver lectures to Post-Grad students, and the online presentation has been viewed over 1000 times by professionals and students all over New Zealand. (Please see link for viewing.)
Commenced as a self-employed PROJECT CONSULTANT, operating from Lucknow, India.
In 2008, transitioned operations solely to the New Zealand market.
Responsibilities:
• Provide high quality architectural and project management services for both commercial and residential projects in two countries.
• Lead all HR aspects for up to three team members, including recruitment and individual / team performance.
• Interact with a wide variety of customers, both in regards to quotations and successful job contracts. Negotiate with both customers and suppliers to ensure solid pricing.
• Grow and expand the customer base through strong relationship development.

• CONSULTANT / PROJECT MANAGER - Wiritoa Lake House, Wanganui (2009-10)
Designed a 450 sqm villa on a lifestyle section, including innovative, sustainable and environmentally efficient elements.
Created 3D BIM presentations, preparing working drawings and specifications.
• SENIOR DESIGNER - Balu Commercial / Apartment Building, Wellington (2007-08)
Oversee detailed input for this multi-storey mixed use building. Construction details included prefab concrete panels, complicated parapets, facades, deck and canopies.
Major Achievements:
• Due to a strong quality and customer first approach, generated strong ongoing and referral business.
• Played a key role in managing a wide range of high profile building and construction projects including leading an offshore team of consultants to design a $50-100m project with Six-Star rating for sustainability.
• Ensured all day to day activities were carried out professionally, using best practise systems and processes.
• Provided support and guidance to team members while individually developing designs for key projects in conjunction with design specification and standards.
• Successfully trained two Graduate Architects, teaching and mentoring them in all aspects of the trade.

• Perform in-depth investigations into the benefits of BIM and its practical use in the NZ construction industry.
• Identify BIM methods that can be implemented at various project phases and its use in planning project schedules.

Within 8 months, promoted to the role of SENIOR DESIGNER.

• Provide expertise in designing and building a variety of medium to large residential and commercial properties.
• Provide leadership and supervision to a team of designers and apprentices.
• Develop scheme designs from outline proposals and consult with other professionals about the suitability of the design.
• Prepare and develop programmes / schedules, drawings and necessary documents relating to the delivery of the design.
• Liaise with members of the external teams, builders, contractors and city council to develop positive business relationships.
Major Achievements:
• Developed customised concept plans as per customer specifications through to project completion. This included preparing working drawings and lodging building consent applications.
• Prepared high end 3-D visualisation work for medium to large level projects.

Project: Building Information Modeling (BIM). The emphasis of the course has been on Risk evaluation and management, Sustainable Construction and Lean methodologies, Contract Administration, Construction Law and Economics, NZ Building Act, Project Planning and Management in Construction Industry along with other core management papers.
Degree: Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Graphics and Design Majored in Maya, which is considered as most sophisticated industry software for modeling and animation. Project: A flythrough animation.
