RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ensure adherence to Saudi Aramco Quality Management System.
•Work shall be carried out in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) ensuring all quality control activities are identified, hold/witness points set and approvals obtained from the client and authorized inspector (AI) as required.
•Review and release all technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.) for work execution.
•preparation of spool weld map drawings for fabrications.
•Perform receiving inspections of Consumables.
•Review and verify material test reports (MTRs).
•Control of nonconforming materials & consumables.
•Notify client prior to start of work and for witness or hold points.
•Verify welder qualification record suitability for scope of work.
•Ensure control of welding consumables, included storage of low-hydrogen electrodes.
•Verify welding is being performed within the parameters of the accepted Welding Procedure Specification(s).
•Perform visual inspection of joint preparation, fit-up, in-process welding and completed weld for compliance with the WPS, client specifications and Code of Construction.
•Ensure that monitoring and measuring equipment (welding equipment, etc.) have been calibrated.
•Perform quality surveillances.
•Assist with the identification, control and resolution of nonconforming product and services.
•Participate in audits of the Quality Management System.
•Ensure compliance with client specifications and the applicable codes and standards.
•Ensure all inspections required by the PQP and ITPs are completed and documented appropriately.
•Carrying out monitoring of sub-contractor activity like NDT etc.
•Calculation of welder repair rate on weekly basis.

BEFORE WELDING
Documentation:
Check specification (Year and revisions), Check Drawing (correct revision)
Consumable receiving.
Check welding procedure specification and welder approval as per the job.
Validate certificate of calibration (welding equipment & inspection instrument)
Check material and consumable certification as per ASME SEC II part A, B, C
Welding process and ancillaries:
Check welding equipment and all related ancillaries (cable, regulator, oven, quiver etc.).
Check pipe / plate and welding consumable for size, condition, specification & storage.
Check the:
Correct method of cutting weld preparation (pre-heat for thermal cutting if applicable).
Correct preparation (Relevant bevel angles, root face, root gap, etc.)
Check pre-welding distortion control (Tackling, bridging, jigs, line up clamp, etc.)
Correct level & method of pre heat applied prior to tack welding.
All tack welding to be monitored and inspected.

DURING WELDING
Monitor:
Whether conditions (Mainly for site work, welding is generally halted when inclement)
Pre-heat values (Heating method, location and control method)
In-process distortion control (Sequence or balanced welding)
Consumable control (Specification, size, condition, and any special treatments)
Welding process and all related variable parameter (Voltage, Ampere, travel speed, etc.)
Welding and/or back purging gasses (Type, pressure/flow and control method)
Welding conditions for root run / hot pass and all subsequent run, and inter-run cleaning.
Minimum and/or maximum inter-pass temperatures (Temperature and control method)
Check Compliance with all other variables stated on the approved welding procedure


AFTER WELDING
Carry out visual inspection of the welded joint (Including dimensional aspect)
Check and monitor NDT requirement (Method, qualification of operator, execution)
Identify repairs from assessment of visual or NDT reports.
Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) (Heating method and temperature recording system)
Re-inspect with NDT/NDE after PWHT (if applicable)
