Process Engineer in Refinery Section for;
VGO-HDT ( Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrotreator unit) and Hydrogen Production unit
1. Monitor and Optimize Units by Monitoring plant operation, calculating economic losses and evaluating catalyst activity. Detailed reports on findings are prepared to recommend changes to optimize unit operation.
2. Support Operations During Shutdown, Inspection and Start-up of Units by using the understanding of unit operating conditions and transient effects of startup and shutdown to recommend to Operations improvements in startup and shutdown procedures.
3. Perform Specific Area Tasks by doing assigned unit specific tasks such as: coordinating Catalyst/Chemical usage for the profit plan, prepare the off-stream report, HDT catalyst usage report, etc.
4. Develop Long Term Projects by Proposing major projects to improve profitability. Develop plans to implement the project, prepare the item for the capital budget and follow-up on installation
5.Troubleshoot Unit Operation by in investigating plant trips/shut-downs. This includes checking compressors for surge
7.Train Lower Level Engineers by participating in training and development
8. Apply Environmental and Safety Awareness by participating as a representative in a HAZOP of a project or Unit.
1) Operate or control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, and reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
2) Place standby emergency electrical generators on line in emergencies and monitor the temperature, output, and lubrication of the system.
3) Regulate equipment operations and conditions such as water levels, based on data from recording and indicating instruments or from computers.
4) Replenish electrolytes in batteries and oil in voltage transformers, and reset tripped electric relays.
5) Start or stop generators, auxiliary pumping equipment, turbines, and other power plant equipment, and connect or disconnect equipment from circuits.
6) Take readings from charts, meters and gauges at established intervals, and take corrective steps as necessary.
7) Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment such as generators, turbines, pumps, and compressors in order to prevent equipment failure or deterioration.
8) Collect oil, water, and electrolyte samples for laboratory analysis.
9) Communicate with systems operators to regulate and coordinate transmission loads and frequencies, and line voltages.
10) Examine and test electrical power distribution machinery and equipment, using testing devices.
11) Inspect records and log book entries, and communicate with other plant personnel, in order to assess equipment operating status.
12) Receive outage calls and call in necessary personnel during power outages and emergencies.
13) Record and compile operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.
Gas and oil plant operators control the refining process for crude oil or natural gas.
Monitoring all steps of the refining process. Making sure the proper temperatures and pressures are maintained and the right ingredients are mixed together.
1) Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
2) Calculate gas ratios to detect deviations from specifications, using testing apparatus.
3) Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, furnaces, and related steam-generating or heating equipment.
4) Control fractioning columns, compressors, purifying towers, heat exchangers, and related equipment in order to extract nitrogen and oxygen from air.
5) Control operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment in order to liquefy, compress, or regasify natural gas.
6) Determine causes of abnormal pressure variances, and make corrective recommendations, such as installation of pipes to relieve overloading.
Training to obtain the required skills to fulfill operational, maintenance, administrative and clerical jobs.
