Works as a member of the Structural Team tasked to perform design management of many projects such as residential and commercial buildings, malls, warehouse/industrial buildings. Review the structural design (hotel + residential buildings) development project. Initiates value engineering exercises and identifies potential issues/constraints in design and construction during the early stages of design.
Works as a member of the Engineering Team tasked to perform design management of many projects and checks appropriateness of structural system and correctness of design criteria proposed by consultants. Provide direction to consultants to ensure complete submission of structural deliverables within project schedule.
Reviews civil/structural designs submitted by consultants with regards to correctness of design data, structural analysis models, calculation methodology, completeness of design details, and coordination to other trades. Review consistency of designs, specifications, and bill of quantities. Evaluate geotechnical reports and their relevance to civil/structural specifications, substructure and superstructure designs, and excavations works, among others.
Check legibility and appropriateness of consultants' responses and/or comments to contractors' submittals/queries which include but are not limited to RFI's, materials, shop drawings, calculations, construction method statements, and HSE procedures. Ensures that material tests are witnessed, and inspections are properly documented including satisfactory compliance of project specification, contract, and applicable engineering & construction codes.
I performed development of structural concepts in collaboration with Design Architects, preparation of structural design criteria, development of 3D Structural models, attended meetings with project management teams, contractors, material suppliers, etc. I prepared detailed structural design and supervised production of design drawings and design calculations reports. I performed design review as Third Party Checker on structural design prepared by other design firms providing comments thereof and recommendation to further improve the structural durability of the structure. I guided members of the structural design team and supervised production of structural deliverables to satisfy client expectations and schedule.
• Reviewed and approved pre-qualification documents of aspiring sub-contractors, third party inspectors and consulting engineers, and suppliers of construction materials according to requirements
• Reviewed and approved materials, construction method statements, calculation reports, and shop drawings for concrete works, structural steel works and façade works, including inspection test plans (ITP's) of respective works
• Reviewed and approved structural steel works connection design calculation report and structural steel fabrication/shop drawings
• Reviewed and approved structural calculations of services structures such as piping networks, anchors and supports system
• Oversaw that third-party inspection and non-destructive testing are performed from fabrication to erection of structural steel works as per standards
• Provided technical advice to Site Managers and Site Inspectors to ensure that material tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented according to project specifications
• Collaborated with other trades, design consultant and project manager in resolving design and/or construction problems and facilitated that solutions are delivered to the contractor on time.
• Provided inputs and guidance to HSE manager as needed.
