• Selected, trained and allocated engineering resources.
• Prepared and updated design guides and work process.
• Led mechanical engineers to complete the front end and detailed engineering of multiple proposals and projects.
• Acted as the engineering manager of multiple EPC proposals.
• Prepared material requisitions. performance guarantees, documents submittal, inspection and testing requirements.
• Reviewed Vendor documents and communicated regularly with suppliers and clients.
• Worked with projects engineers to identify risks and risk elimination/mitigation actions.
• Worked with planning, cost and procurement engineers and provided input/feedback as necessary.
• Provided technical support to construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Provided technical assessment and engineering support to client operating plants.
• Led the conceptual design and feed activities for multiple projects and proposals. Work included creating and optimizing the plant configuration and emissions control technology to meet the environmental regulations based on fuel analysis, CAPEX and OPEX.
• Provided training to client engineers on plant systems and equipment.
• Established technical groups within the mechanical department and prepared their development program.
Samples of Technical Work Performed:
• Successfully completed a combined heat and power project engineering from the proposal stage up to award and FEED stage during COVID where most of engineers were working from home. Led the negotiation with gas turbines and steam turbines suppliers.
• Solved all issues with boilers (burners, steam soot blowers, auxiliary systems), fuel pumps and fans in Abu Qir 2 x 650 MW subcritical power plant. Gathered data from the plant DCS, conducted root cause analysis and prepared a report with necessary inspections and design modifications. Followed-up with the contractors until all issues were cleared to the full satisfaction of the Owner.
• Created a design assurance and testing process for a new 50 MWth burners of 2200 ton/hour supercritical boilers. Supervised the contractor to complete the assurance process which included computational analysis and experimental testing of the burner in Italy largest testing facility in Gioia del Colle.
• Performed the assurance activities for SIEMENS review of 2000 ton/hr Supercritical Benson boiler furnace and convection pass in Erlangen, Germany.
• Reviewed critical design aspects of feed water heat exchangers for South Helwan supercritical power plant in South Korea.
• Established, trained and mentored static equipment design and noise calculation groups.

Assigned Design Engineer at Bruce Power
  • Canada - Ontario
  • December 2018 to July 2019

Major Components Replacement (MCR) project Owner Assigned Design Engineer (ADE) responsible for design review,
specifications writing, proposals technical evaluation and suppliers documents review for Class I feeders piping and fittings of
the nuclear reactor primary heat transport system:
 Worked closely with fittings suppliers to solve custom fittings and custom flow measuring equipment fabrication issues
related to material chemical analysis, machining and heat treatment considering radiation activity and activity transport
through heat transport system.
 Evaluated the technical offers for Class I primary heat transport system material.
 Reviewed the suppliers documents including material specifications, fabrication and testing procedures and concession
applications.
 Performed studies as necessary to provide the technical basis for dealing with material and manufacturing issues.
 Reviewed and accepted advanced material testing results (e.g. Machining residual stresses measurements to assess if
solution annealing is required, …)
 Determined the analysis required to investigate the subsequent events following feeder piping rupture (Jet piping
interaction, piping supports transient loads investigations, …)
 Reviewed and accepted the pre-production qualification samples inspection reports, chemical analysis and material
examination results to allow the supplier to start full production.
 Led regular meetings at vendors premises to discuss material testing, fabrication issues and execution progress.
 Performed walk-down and prepared technical specifications for MCR project equipment.

Project Engineering Manager at BP, Pharaonic Petroleum Company
  • Egypt - Cairo
  • April 2010 to October 2013

Engineering Manager and Mechanical Lead for BP expansion project of West Harbor gas processing plant responsible for all the mechanical engineering activities in addition to managing all other engineering activities with eight directly reporting engineers.

- Oversaw execution of project engineering to ensure meeting BP standard practice (ETP) while meeting the project schedule.
- Led the team responsible to review and approve all the EPC contractor engineering deliverables including FEED verification reports, data sheets, specifications and material requisitions.
- Led the implementation of actions produced from Hazard Identification, HAZOP and Risk sessions.
- Organized and led a workshop to study the different options to connect to the existing flare system. Prepared a plan for
increasing the flare header rating according to API 570.
- Organized and led a workshop to study the risks associated with control room upgrade and facilitate the agreement
between project team and operations team on the best mitigation plans to minimize risks.
- Ensured continuous communication between project team and plant engineers.
- Reviewed all static and rotating equipment specifications, data sheets and material requisitions of gas scrubbers, Flare
Knock-out drum, Low temperature separators, heat exchangers high pressure storage vessel, API Pumps, Firefighting
pumps, instrument air compressors and emergency diesel generator during preliminary and detailed engineering
phases.
- Reviewed and approved all the technical evaluation reports for packages within the mechanical scope.
- Followed up with the fabrication activities of the static equipment in the fabrication yard.
