• Provides age and culturally appropriate care to patient
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Monitors patient’s vital signs, and initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology
• Follows continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, such as ECG tracings, O2 saturation, and reports any observed changes
• Tracks urine output
• Changes dressings, inserts catheters (both central venous & arterial)
• Administers infusion therapy, including: IV fluids, antibiotics, antifungal, antiviral, and electrolytes
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators
• Prepares and administers and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments
• Assists treating physician during examination, treatment and procedures, which can include life-saving situations.
• Analyzes lab results and report for panic or abnormal result
• Assists with the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, endotracheal tubes, and Foleys
• Provides education, information and emotional support to the patient’s family
• Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting
Monitor all patient care activities and ensure adherence to all hospital policies to satisfy all patient requirement.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, upper management in the coordination of patient care.
• Assess the patient care to improve quality of care
• Maintain and prepare all policies and procedures for the unit.
• Improve unit quality indicators and prepare the quarterly report.
• Prepare and report the monthly census for the unit.
• Participate in nursing hospital projects (FMEA, FOCUS-PDCA, HIS training).
• Prepare for in-service education, and unit issues meeting.
• Organize a monthly duty schedule for the staff.
• Evaluate all assignments of the staff of the shift.
• Provide orientation to all new employees and prepare training program for them as unit requirement.
• Maintenance of supplies and equipment for the unit.
King Abdulla University Hospital (KAUH), is a Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited hospital and teaching hospital, and considered as specialized and referral one, now full capacity is 480 beds (maximum capacity is 800 beds at emergency situation), Irbid - Jordan.
Job Title: Charge Nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit PICU.
PICU is 10 beds, the unit for pediatric patients (8 days -13 years) in a ratio of 1 nurse: 2 patients.
Rotations: ER rotation since first of May - end of august, 2013.
NICU Rotation at first of December, 2013 - end of January, 2014.
Yarmouk University combined with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Jordan.
