ACADEMIC PROJECTS Hand Crank DC Generator — Capstone Project Designed a portable emergency generator converting mechanical to electrical power for phone charging. Performed motor torque curve analysis and power calculations to select the optimal motor and validate ergonomic cranking force requirements against human physical limits. Building Water Supply Piping System Designed and sized a pipeline network connecting dual rooftop tanks to a central reservoir in MATLAB using Bernoulli's principle. Iterated pipe diameter equations to meet variable hourly flow demands and determined optimal pump placement, valve configurations, and elbow positions. Vapor Power Plant Design Evaluated and selected gas turbines to meet a 50 MW off-grid electrical demand, applying Rankine cycle conditions (6 bar, 210°C). Performed detailed thermodynamic calculations to ensure optimal energy conversion efficiency for an off-grid application. All-Terrain Electric Wheelchair Designed a rugged electric wheelchair in SolidWorks suitable for outdoor and rough terrain use for people with disabilities. Applied human factors engineering, R&D methodology, and material science principles to optimise structural and ergonomic design parameters. Slot Car — CNC & Additive Manufacturing Designed and manufactured a competitive slot car using a deliberate multi-process approach. Programmed CNC toolpaths in MasterCAM and generated G-code for structural MDF components; selected FDM 3D printing for complex PLA geometry parts — demonstrating real-world additive vs. subtractive manufacturing process selection. DFMA Analysis — Product Redesign Conducted a systematic teardown of a consumer product, documenting assembly steps, materials, and manufacturing processes per component. Applied Lucas DFMA methodology to identify and eliminate non-essential components, reducing part count, manufacturing cost, and assembly time. Linear Actuator Manufacturing Process Design Designed a complete automated manufacturing process for a standing desk linear actuator. Selected optimal material handling systems, sequenced production steps, and identified process improvement opportunities. Presented detailed process analysis and cost reduction recommendations to a technical audience.
