Currently working in Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies at UAE University as Micro Computer Specialist. Responsibilities include planning, designing, implementing and maintaining IT solutions meeting department’s needs and provide support to the end users. Liaison with other departments in providing University’s research output reports. Actively involved with the faculty in their research as a research assistant.
My most challenging project so far has been developing a GUI to visualize results of an oil reservoir simulation in 3D environment. This application is being developed on IBM’s Cell broadband Engine which is a power PC. The application takes advantage of Cell’s unique parallel programming architecture to provide user a real time experience of a 3D environment to interact with simulation results. It is developed on QT C++ GUI library and OPENGL.To compare Cell BEs performance against other Multicore Accelerators, I have ported the code on Intel Xeon using OpenMP and OPENMPI.
A joint project initiated by NRF, UAE University and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research UAE. The application will allow faculty members to maintain their research profile, which will eventually constitute the research profile for each institute. The data will be stored in an Oracle Data Warehouse, the front end is being developed on ASP .NET 4.0. My role is of the lead developer in this project.
ERMSS(Electronic Research Management & Support System) a web-based application which streamlines the process of internal research funding of the University. Through this application registered researchers within the university can submit their research proposals which then get evaluated by different committees and results are visible to the researcher. The application is developed in PHP and MySql.
Joined as a Software Engineer in Database department; and was assigned the role of database designer and programmer. After a year I was promoted to Team Leader and with that had added responsibilities of managing my team, projects and hire developers. In addition to the above mentioned tasks, I was working on Human resource management system and E-commerce applications. My roles in these projects were to analyze and design schema and later implement business logic in database layer. These applications were developed on ASP/ ASP .NET and SQL Server 2000. I was also constantly involved in tracing the databases and locate any deadlocks in stored procedures or queries and hence fine tuning the database.
One of my major project was a complete portal for in-house Human resource management which was used by 200+ employees. The portal consists of Payroll, Shift based attendance system, performance evaluation and other features of a top quality HRM system. My role was to analyze, design the database and to implement business logic using stored procedures. This application is developed on SQL Server 2000 and uses ASP at its front end.
Another project was HR recruitment application. This system translated complete business model for recruitment purposes. From the initial stage of resume posting till offer acceptance it covered every step. This system was also designed in SQL Server 2000 and on front end it was developed on ASP.
Plus I modeled many functional databases for eCommerce sites which had thousands of hits a day.
In Comsats my primary responsibility was to maintain customer service application and ISP’s database on Oracle8i. I also re-designed and developed customer service application and its database which increased the efficiency of overall operations and reduced the response time for customer queries. In Comsats I was reporting directly to Node Head. Another responsibility I had was to analyze call logs to look for trends and patterns in customer’s usage, which helped our marketing team in developing ad campaigns.
Developed a Web Based Interface for management of ISP operations. This included interfaces for staff people and administrator. Interface contains options to create/update accounts. Manage users and their basic operations. Generate reports. It was developed on ColdFusion. On the backend Oracle 8I is running.
I joined Global Information Systems as web developer. It was a sister company of a portal known as PlanetArabia.com. Here I developed couple of database driven websites on Coldfusion and SQL Server.
