Working in a Principal Mechanical Engineer role, I am directly responsible for executing and managing assigned projects safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest standards of integrity and compliance.

While leading a team of environmentally conscious experts, I am also responsible for overseeing:
• Design development of project proposal, including definition of scope and schedule requirements.

• Development of detailed estimate leading to funding appropriation and approval.
• Design input to develop and prepare contracting plan and strategy for solicitation, evaluation, and award of contract for detail engineering, procurement, and construction.
• Management of contractors preparation of detailed design drawings, material specifications and procurement, and construction bid packages.
• Working closely with project engineers and other project professionals to provide work direction and guidance.
• Design liaison with external specialists to successfully complete the CDP elements of the works.
• Evaluation of project problems where precedents are lacking, requiring a high degree of specialised knowledge to resolve the problematic issues.

Working in a Lead Mechanical Engineer role, I was mainly responsible for ensuring that engineering design, procurement, construction, and project completion was in compliance with the project contract requirements.

While leading the design function within the Steam Asset Engineering team, I was also responsible for:

• Providing guidance, advice, monitoring, and assistance to ensure compliance to the applicable safety, health, and environmental requirements.

E.ON New Build & Technology, UK
Worked within the Engineering Division of one of the worlds largest energy company, my role involved:
• Providing routine piping design and construction support to both new build and existing facilities
• Managing design contractors activities during the development of FEED studies, definition of
project scope, schedule requirements, and development of detailed estimates leading to funding
• Reviewing project schedules, monitoring the assigned project progress and challenging any below
par performance from the contractors
• Designing a large number of replacement pressure parts and pipework systems
• Designing plant modifications to reduce damage and extend component life
• Specification development and tender assessment of the next generation of power plants
• Providing design support to facilitate pressure system failure investigations
• Site surveys and structural inspections of power plants during routine maintenance outages
• Conducting studies of major retrofits and/or upgrades to existing pipelines
• Reviewing original design to agree the required piping modifications to the existing facilities
• Writing specification for the refurbishment work associated with the boiler plant area, including
leading delivery of design works from inception and tendering to successful installation

• Developing appreciation of key interfaces among operating plants, engineering, and project management teams.
• Supporting the project manager in the timely completion of the assigned project.
• Understanding the application of design codes used in pressure parts and piping design.
• Developing understanding of piping material classes based on project requirements.
• Participating in HAZOP Studies, FEED reviews and detailed engineering of new build power plants.
• Undertaking steady state and transient thermal modelling to assess the adequacy of structural members and weld sizes.
• Undertaking steady state thermodynamic plant modelling to support plant modifications.
• Assisting in HRSG structural inspections during statutory outages.
• Carrying out visual inspection of pressure systems support structures.
