Commercial planning and business delivery

▪ Control commercial-related activities such as commercial planning, projecting levels of demand, identifying opportunities to maximize revenue from resources, aligning needs to class hours, drawing together data, and turning into actionable plan e.g. resourcing and Sales pipeline reporting to meet (daily/weekly/monthly) targets, schedules, and deadlines

▪ Prioritize work and resolve day-to-day commercial issues for a nominated team/coordinator, to ensure high quality, consistent and efficient services are delivered.

▪ Make recommendations to senior managers on country-specific commercial procedural improvements, resource requirements, and other operational initiatives to drive enhanced performance, cost-effectiveness, service quality, and efficiency.

▪ Undertake regular quality checks and reviews, following agreed commercial or relevant external protocols, to monitor the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of delivery. Reports on findings and recommends appropriate remedial actions as required.

▪ Identify and share examples of process/procedural best practices with appropriate colleagues in the country/SBU to drive continuous improvement in the BC’s operational capability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

1. Business Development:

▪ Provide lead support in the successful implementation of an Exams business development plan for Kuwait by ensuring agreed sales, income and impact targets are achieved across the product areas.

▪ In liaison with country exams management and marketing teams, analyze the competitive environment, gather and analyze market insights, and identify and explore opportunities for business growth within existing and new markets.

▪ Develop and maintain effective working relationships that are recognized as high quality and adding value with targeted clients, partners, and stakeholders. Pro-actively seek feedback from all stakeholders in order to advise improvements in standards and service.

▪ Develop and maintain a database of potential clients and stakeholders, ranked by potential, across a range of sectors.

▪ Conduct ongoing sales / promotional visits to meet sales targets and open up addressable markets
▪ Lead on Exams presence at events and exhibitions in liaison with the marketing team.

▪ Identify and pursue any opportunities for cross-selling British Council services, in liaison with Teaching Centre Management, Partnerships/Projects Managers, or other colleagues as relevant.

2. Business planning, monitoring, and reporting:

Provide input to annual and monthly Exams business planning, monitoring activity, and Marketing Action Plans. Explore and implement means of improving efficiency and reducing delivery costs.

3. Team Management:

▪ Manage and develop members of the Exams team according to British Council HR standards, in order to meet business objectives.
▪ Plan and deploy staff resources effectively to meet contractual obligations and take advantage of emerging opportunities
▪ Ensure appropriate professional training and product familiarization in order to maximize personal effectiveness and potential across the office.
▪ Ensure that exams quality standards are met and ensure compliance with policy documents across all transactions, processes, and activities

To explore and identify opportunities to support the BC Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy in all areas of work.

Main duties:

1. Business Development and Training:

▪ Providing market support and training services for ETS' (Educational Testing Services ) products (TOEFL-TOEIC- TOEIC Bridge- English Discoveries online - Teachers Licensing), BTEC qualifications, eLearning portfolio Management, and CITY & GUILDS programs.
▪ Building financial plans and setting up pricing strategies.
▪ Consulting with Ministry of Education in Kuwait on the teachers licensing programs and participating in the development of the marketing strategy and use of social media campaigns.
▪ Identifying and coordinating the work of external consultants and providing training content and support.
▪ Developing effective induction programs.
▪ Creating, revising and editing high quality training materials for clients.
▪ Organizing and presenting webinars for external international consultants and service providers to discuss the training content, and to assure that the company theme is well presented in training.
▪ Equipping staff with the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out work-related tasks.
▪ Identifying training and development needs within an organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with business managers and human resources departments

2. Assessment and Evaluation:

▪ Management of the ETS standardized assessment database as one of 4 ETS scoring administrators in MENA.
▪ Designing assessment, evaluation, and feedback forms both paper based, and electronic, and doing this in an organized manner, to help enhance future training programs.
▪ Defining the mile stones of training programs, and formulating them to learning objectives.
▪ Determining what the trainees and test takers have achieved their objectives and action plans.
