Currently working as Construction Manager in Pakistans largest PVC, EDC and VCM complex. As Construction Manager, I am responsible to plan and coordinate all aspect of the project ensuring successful delivery from FEED & detailed design, while driving the best practices with stakeholders and managing a multidiscipline distributed team. I have to ensure that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with contract specifications, statutory requirements, industrially recognized codes and standards.
High Temperature Direct Chlorination (HTDC) PROJECT:
• Prepared contract document and mechanical scope of work in coordination with other team members and departments.
• Reviewed engineering documents and procedures against project FEED, contract and international codes and standards.
• Monitor site execution activities, plan and review critical activities, and coordinate with other team members for smooth execution of works.
• Prepared SOW and contract for ordering of all stationary equipment including 07 nos. heat exchangers, 07 nos. vessels, 01 no. HTDC reactor and 01 no. stack. Carried out all technical coordination with the vendors.
• Successfully carried out the heaviest and most critical rigging activity in EPCL history. 150 tons column was erected in process area with tandem rigging.
• Review project and monitor project schedule, project progress, and develop catch up plans.
• Perform Job Safety Analysis and conduct safety audits to ensure safe execution of project construction activities.
• Troubleshoot problems on site and liaise between contractor project team and plant operation for resolution of concerns.
• Manage all stakeholders and communicate between higher management, contractors and subcontractors.
VCM Debottlenecking PROJECT:
• Worked as mechanical lead engineer for the delivery of Furnace-C, DSQ-C and TLE-C units.
• Successfully carried out rehabilitation of relocated furnace from Mexichem Plant (Mexico, USA) to EPCL site.
• Prepared SOW and contract for ordering all stationary equipment including 09 nos. heat exchangers, 02 nos. columns, 04 nos. filters, 03vessels, Transfer line exchanger and steam drum, and approx. 1000 tons of steel structure. Carried out all technical coordination with the vendors for successful manufacturing of the equipment.
• Worked on piping delivery systems with test packs methodology. Supervised pre-commissioning activities of piping systems and equipment.
• Managed multiple contractors, sub-contractors for site construction, procurement, package system delivery. Also directly supervised construction crew of around 100 personnel.
• Successfully installed, tested and commissioning firefighting deluge system.
• Ensured safe execution of construction activities round the clock. 4.5 million safe man-hours mark was reached on this project without any LTI, LWI, or MTC.
Worked as project engineer in Pakistans biggest oil refinery. As project engineer, I was involved in all phases of project from inception until the commissioning including feasibility study, contract preparation, project planning, awarding of contract, project execution, controlling and closure.
ERECTION OF 4.1 MW AIR PREHEATER SYSTEM ON FURNACE:
• Served as project coordinator for this project.
• Prepared SOW and contract document along with other disciplines, contracts and legal department.
• Evaluated proposals, carried out post bid clarifications, negotiations and awarding of contract.
• Managed stakeholders and act as liaison between the main contractor, project team, plant, and higher management.
• Reviewed design documents against project specification and international standards and resolve engineering concerns of the project team through mutual discussion with the contractor.
• Monitor site execution activities, plan and review critical activities. Perform risk analysis for critical and shutdown activities.
• Successfully retrofitted existing furnace with 28 nos. new dual fired burners.
• Successfully erected and commissioned 4.1MW air preheater system increasing the furnace efficiency to 90%.
REVAMP OF LUBE-I REFINERY UNIT:
• Worked as execution lead on this project.
• Reviewed engineering documents and procedures against project FEED, contract and international codes and standards.
• Monitor site execution activities, plan and review critical activities, and coordinate with other team members for smooth execution of works.
• Successfully removed old filtration unit from the existing plant to create space for new project.
• Supervised construction and erection of new pre-flash unit for CDU column.
• Successfully carried out revamping of vacuum column including changes nozzle sizes replacement of entire column trays with new packing system to enhance column efficiency and higher yields.
• Supervised revamping of existing furnace for addition of superheater coils.
• Supervised erection and 02 new furnaces for CDU feed heater and reboiler circuit.
• Supervised installation and alignment of rotary equipment including 08 no. pumps and 02 impulse turbines.
• Troubleshoot problems on site and liaise between contractor, project team and plant operation for resolution of concerns.
REVAMP FUEL REFINERY UNIT:
• Worked as execution lead on this project.
• Reviewed engineering documents and procedures against project FEED, contract and international codes and standards.
• Monitored and controlled site execution activities. Reviewed project schedule and developed catchup plan.
• Successfully installed 06 nos. heat exchangers, 04 nos. air coolers and piping systems.
• Supervised installation and alignment of rotary equipment including 05 no. pumps and 01 impulse turbines.
• Troubleshoot problems on site and liaise between contractor, project team and plant operation for resolution of concerns.
Completed four years professional degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology which is one of the most prestigious universities in Asia.
