The Veterinary Research Institute (VRI), Lahore is a leading center dedicated to advancing animal health, disease control, and livestock productivity through scientific research, diagnostics, and vaccine development. As a biotechnologist internee, I contributed to its mission by applying modern molecular and microbiological techniques for the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases in animals.
My responsibilities included performing DNA extraction, real-time PCR, and gel electrophoresis for molecular diagnostics, ensuring accurate genetic screening of pathogens. I also supported vaccine research and development by conducting propagation, potency and safety testing, and molecular identification of microbial strains, aligning with biosafety and quality standards.
