The MSc Energy program at Heriot Watt University, is designed to acquire the detailed knowledge needed to meet the challenges and develop opportunities within the energy and power industry. The program is directly related to the energy challenges facing every region of the world, specifically the Gulf region. This course is concerned with the concepts, applications, design, development and deployment of energy and power related sector with the aim to enable students to • Develop detailed knowledge and critical understanding of the core skills in energy, Power and renewable energy resources and systems. • Develop and use a significant range of principal and specialist skills, techniques and practices in different areas of Energy, power and renewable-energy sector. • Be able to apply this knowledge directly to complex applications. • Critically review existing practice and develop original and creative solutions to problems within the domain. • Communicate and work effectively with peers and academic staff in a variety of tasks, demonstrating appropriate levels of autonomy and responsibility. • Plan and execute a significant project of research, investigation or development in a specialist area within the energy arena, demonstrating extensive, detailed and critical understanding of that specialism.
The four year honors program 'Electrical and Electronics Engineering' involved study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism in areas such as power and control systems, telecommunications, and digital signal processing. This degree program was designed to expose the role which electrical engineering plays in today’s society and gain fundamental and applied understanding of electrical engineering as a discipline that integrates math, science, and technology while benefiting from a liberal arts education and developing soft skills that will prepare them to be successful in the major and their careers.
