In the graduation project , I conducted a study to assess the performance of using a network of electrical buses, which act as mobile energy providers to different locations along with transporting passengers from one location to another in the network in terms of cost effectiveness, environmental friendliness, and reducing levels of traffic. A joint decision model based on mixed integer programming is proposed, which allows electrical buses to make routing and energy scheduling decisions jointly based on energy demand and transportation needs. The proposed model is assessed under five different scenarios including carbon pricing, types of passenger's vehicles, seasons, buses capacities, and traffic conditions. The impacts of these different scenarios on the performance of the joint model is investigated. The simulation results demonstrate that the joint model performs very well under all of the five case scenarios, as it yields solutions that are relatively less expensive, less polluting, and less traffic than the remaining models (Baseline, Fixed renewables, Diesel buses, and Disjoint). Compared to the baseline, the joint model can reduce up to $40,000, 40,000 kg, and 16,000 of total energy costs, carbon emissions and traffic per day, respectively.
