Pre and Post Contract experience of a variety of schemes in excess of £1m to £150m involving:
• Cost analysis and control - conducting feasibility studies to estimate material, time and labour costs
• Cost planning - Producing elemental cost plans and estimates on tight timescales and carrying out measurements using CostX and also manually
• Attending project meetings and ensuring stakeholders are kept up to date, informed of project progression and aware of any issues
• Assessing applications for payment and producing interim and final valuations for client approval
• Preparation of monthly cost reports and forecasts

Sprint - Bus Rapid Transit, £60m: The project involves the construction of a bus corridor featuring new and extended bus lanes, priority for buses at junctions to improve journey times and approximately 95 new bus shelters. Muslim has been involved in producing cost estimates for the A34 and A45 routes and his role continued into providing extensive commercial and contractual advice on the NEC Option A contract. He has played a key role in managing a significant level of change during construction, reporting and advising on contractual issues, and contributing in solving complex design, programme and financial challenges. As the PQS, Muslim evaluated monthly payment applications and prepared interim payment certificates. He also produced monthly cost forecast reports which were used at project board meeting and chaired commercial meetings with Contractors on a regular basis to discuss commercial aspects of the project. He was actively involved in the change management process of the scheme and through his extensive knowledge in NEC contracts has saved the client approx. £1m in costs which represents 10% of the overall A34 route project value of £10m.

Warwickshire County Council - S278 B4100 Village Access, £4m: Serving as the commercial lead in providing support to WCC for the B4100 Gaydon project. The project’s purpose is to provide amendments to an existing roundabout including widening/realignment and the provision of a new arm, carriageway improvements and enabling works for a new Taylor Wimpey housing development. Muslim’s experience has been crucial in assessing compensation events due to the significant level of change, as well as advising and reporting on a variety of contractual issues and programme challenges.

Network Rail - Birmingham Airport Connectivity, £120m: Assisting Senior Cost Planning Manager in production of a GRIP 3 Cost Plan for an Outline Business Case. The project involves the proposed upgrade and expansion of the Birmingham Airport Railway Station.

Darlington Borough Council - Darlington Station Upgrade, £80m: Estimate production for client’s business case to gain funding from the Department for Transport. The project involved an upgrade and expansion of the existing station along with the construction of a new footbridge.

Pre and Post Contract experience of a variety of schemes including:

Ladywood House, Birmingham, £40m: Assisted in producing a cost plan for the proposed reconfiguration of a 12-storey office block above the Grand Central Railway Station.
Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading, £6m: Cost control, JCT contract administration and client delivery. The project involved the refurbishment and resurfacing of the centre’s two multi-storey car parks.

Department Store, Birmingham, £190m: Assisted in producing a cost plan for the reconfiguration of a large multi-level department store in the Bullring Shopping Centre.

Department Store, Reading, £150m: Produced a cost plan for the reconfiguration of a large multi-level department store in the Oracle Shopping Centre.

Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, Taiwan, £150m: Assisted in producing a detailed cost estimate for the redevelopment of the airport’s Terminal 2.

Bilston Road Retail Park, Wolverhampton, £1.4m: Cost control, JCT cost administration and client delivery. The project included the expansion and resurfacing of the car park.
