Responsibilities and Accomplishments;
• Co-ordinated the production, storage & sales of premium quality frozen semen of bull, buffalo & buck in the northern districts of Kerala state and maintained HACCP & ISO standards throughout.
• Represented the company in International Animal Industry Exhibition (2010, Karnal, India) & held preliminary discussions with companies like IMV Technologies (France) & DAIRYMASTER (Ireland) which later ended in business deals.
• Conducted annual vaccination campaign against FMD, HS & BQ which played a key role in disease controlling in northern Kerala & maintaining its “Livestock product exporting state” status.
• Co-ordinated & monitored the transportation of newly purchased cows from neighbouring states to company farms.
• Co-ordinated the project “Conservation and Improvement of Malabari Goats through Field Performance Recording and Buck Distribution Programme” which promoted the selective breeding of Malabari goats & leading to production of elite quality meat goats which resulted in improved profit to the farmers.
• Recommended opening of new artificial insemination centres & relocation of existing ones, by conducting economical feasibility studies. Hence, reduced the expenses for transportation & liquid nitrogen which brought about better access to premium quality semen.
• Implemented the Government’s Dairy Farming Promotion Projects -Cattle Insurance Scheme & Subsidised Cattle Feeds Supply etc. & organised different exhibitions, farmer’s camps, seminars etc. as part of Government’s Livestock farming extension activities which rejuvenated dairy industry in the region.
• Managed routine office works including labour management, data management, maintenance of records registers & report submission.
• As part of Master’s research work, Standardised PCR for rapid detection of infectious coryza outbreaks in poultry. Visited the poultry farms & studied the epidemiology & antibiotic resistance patterns of infectious coryza outbreaks in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, India. • Assisted in the project “Development, Standardisation & Evaluation of Thermo stable ND Vaccine strains for the use in village chicken.” & developed Thermo Stable ND vaccine. • Performed Poly Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE) for detection of rota virus from calf diarrhoeal samples as a part of etiological investigation on calf diarrhoea. • Assessed the antibody titre against ND in poultry farms from endemic areas to evaluate the level protection from the disease & advised booster vaccination in necessary cases. • Screened dairy farms for detection of subclinical mastitis (CMT),TB( Tuberculin test), JD(Johnin test) & brucellosis(Rapid Plate Agglutination Test & Standard Tube Agglutination Test) as a part of disease surveillance programme. • Assisted in necropsies of different species. Collected relevant samples, processed & analysed (including histopathological slides). Prepared necropsy reports.
