Holistic care of three to four pediatric oncology patients including the following:
•Checking and administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy as per protocol
•Accessing and Caring for Intravenous Access Device (IVAD), Hickman and Central lines
•Administering Blood and Blood products as per AUBMC policies and procedures
•Caring for patients with various oncologic emergencies ( Tumor lysis, septic shock, spinal cord compression)
•Clinical preceptor for new RNs on the Unit :
•Training new RN residents on the Unit by working on their clinical skills, orienting them to various oncologic diagnoses, discussing cases…
•Charge Nurse while during absence of the Nurse Manager:
•Performing various administrative tasks such as scheduling, solving issues pertinent to the unit, circulating policies, overseeing other team members’ tasks and duties.
Replacing various team members when they are on leaves or when there is shortage on the units.
•Areas covered: Adult Oncology, Adult Medical Surgical, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Children’s Cancer Center- Inpatient, and Emergency Room.
