• Working as part of team my task is to use a modern computerized system to pick orders for M&S online and store customers.
• Highly desirable that I be of the highest numeracy competence in order to pick correct orders as defined by barcode number identifications, while also performing at timed speeds.
• Make instant judgments on behalf of line manager regarding quality and condition of products, e.g. ‘does it suit customer expectations’.
• Consistent with seniority, I provide on-the-job training to new colleagues, give information and advice and helping them settle into my area and embed into the larger team; this fosters good team spirit.
• Communicate regularly with managers on the progress of trainees and advise on specific qualities and talents.
• Reporting faults in machinery/equipment to my line manager or engineers promptly, upholding Health and Safety policies and standards and other roles as assigned by line manager
My role as leader was to identify and implement fundraising strategies involving a community of more than 100 people. Supervise activities such as public campaigns for donations. Motivate and train diverse groups of all ages to ensure optimal fund raising. Generate and present periodic reports to charity bosses.
The MSc Conservation Biology programme provided me with an advanced understanding of the science which underpins conservation. With the study I gained valuable experience of essential techniques and fieldwork. The programme had a strong numerical and research-orientated approach. Through its international outlook I was provided with opportunities to gain conservation experience overseas. I undertook a residential field trip to Tanzania’s major protected areas in which mammal assemblages; group sizes and sex ratios were sampled using Distance sampling techniques. The field course also included investigating the problems of conserving large mammals outside protected areas in Tanzania.
The BSc Honours in Ecology and Conservation investigated aspects of taxonomy, evolution, ecology, behaviour and conservation of wild animals. Typical areas of study included international issues in biodiversity conservation, the sustainable management of biological resources, animal behaviour and conservation. The course had a significant UK as well as an international focus, affording me the opportunity to take part in field courses and project work in Africa. In a two week residential field trip to Tanzania’s major protected areas I sampled mammal assemblages, e.g. group sizes and sex ratios using Distance sampling techniques. Overall I acquired and developed useful laboratory and analytical skills that can be applied to the conservation and management of biodiversity.
