Contract employee working for American K9 on a SOC contract for the Department of State. I am currently in Baghdad, Iraq at the United State Embassy handling an explosive detection dog. (EDD)
My EDD partner and I work at various check points searching for explosives prior to allowing access into the International Zone.
Serve as first-line supervisor in the Capitol Police Division and perform all law enforcement functions on state properties. Supervise daily operations by planning, organizing, monitoring field operations, assigning work schedules, evaluate employee performance, review and approve written reports. Assist management in developing and interpreting new and existing regulations, policies and procedures, identifying training needs, develop and present training classes and prepare statistics and reports.
Perform law enforcement related duties on the highways throughout Nevada. Traffic enforcement, accident investigations, report writing, court testimony and public safety on highways was the primary function.
I served 2 years on a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Federal Task Force. Goal was to work in a partnership with 3 other agencies to disrupt the flow of illegal narcotics. Drug Enforcement Administration, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Henderson Police Department and Nevada Highway Patrol were the partnering Agencies. Team targeted airport, bus terminal, parcel delivery centers and highways to intercept illegal contra-band. I served team as a canine handler with a drug detection dog to assist in the performance of assigned duties. Responsible for training dog for quarterly qualifications in addition to deployments as needed. I was additionally certified as a Canine Trainer/Instructor after a 500 plus hour course. Donn Yarnall was contracted to assist in program development and to train k9 teams and k9 trainers. I was responsible for setting up daily training exercises. I assisted K9 team with training aid preparation and quarterly evaluations of K9s and handlers.
Perform law enforcement functions throughout the City of Las Vegas. I served in the following capacities during the course of my 19 years of employment. Shift Supervisor, Field Training Officer, SERT Team Leader (Coordinate team training and Managed responses for institutional disturbances in a correctional facility), Instructor (In-Service and Academy), Dignitary Protection, Canine Handler, Bicycle Patrol Unit, SERT Team Member, Union Representative, Contract Negotiations, CALEA Committee, Special Events Staffing, Prisoner Transports and Detention Center (Corrections Officer) Canine Handler for an Explosives Detection Dog. Duties included, routine sweeps at City Hall and local bus terminal and others as requested. Daily training of K9 this included handling of explosive training aids that had been issued. Monthly inventory of all K9 training aids for City of Las Vegas K9 unit. (Narcotics and Explosives) I served a total of 4 years as an Explosives Detection K9 Handler. I served for 10 years on the Dignitary Protection Team 4 years as primary to the Mayor. I served as a Firearms Instructor and Range Master for 14 years 1994-2008.
