Responsible for Planning and Project Controls for the Construction, Commissioning and Turnover of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology which is being built in Saudi Arabia as an international, graduate-level research university dedicated to inspire a new age of scientific achievement in the kingdom intended for the benefit of the region and the world.

KAUST Academic and Administrative campus is made up of twenty-two buildings. Town Center comprises forty-nine retail and residential buildings, six civic buildings, and one structure depicting the landmark of KAUST (Beacon). Residential and Community Support Facilities comprised of 3, 139 residential housing units, three community schools (International and Harbor girls/boys), three early childhood centers, health clinic, petrol station, fire station, supermarket; Central Services buildings. (i.e. office services, transportation, storage, equipment maintenance, general warehouse, hazardous material facility, gardening & sanitation, central laundry, kitchen and the Central Services dining hall), four recreational and sports complex buildings, golf course, and all associated landscaping works. Utility Services comprised of roads network, four bridges & three pedestrian bridges over water canal, underground utility distribution network for electrical and other utilities such as chiller plant, Sea Water Reverse Osmosis/Desalination Plant, Waste Water Treatment Plant and a chemical warehouse and three electrical substations.

Responsible for the overall coordination of activities and development of plans for the construction and commissioning cycle of KAUST, which involves management of schedules, progress reports, and forecasting from the contractors.

Responsible to prepare the Project Time Schedule and Project Controls, gather information from the Project Management Team (PMT) to come up with the current project analysis as well as the Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Reports.

Responsible to prepare the baseline programme and project control, providing the Project Management Team (PMT) sufficient information about the current status of the project, and proposals to recover delays if any.

There are three(3) action lists on my position as project control engineer namely: Daily Reports, Weekly Reports and Monthly Reports.

The project was EPC of “Off Plot Facilities for n-Paraffin & LAB @ Jubail” owned by GULF FARABI PETROCHEMICAL COMPANY, which consists of pipelines and tanks for Potable Water from Royal Commission, industrial waste and sanitary waste to Royal Commission, Hydrogen from KEMYA, Nitrogen from NIGC-GAS, Fuel Gas from Saudi Aramco, kerosene feed supply from SASREF, n-Paraffin and Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) for SABTANK and Benzene Supplies to SABTANK.

I was in-charge to prepare the baseline schedule which consists Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) activities, including resource allocations and risk analysis.

Performed project control and responsible to prepare the Weekly and Monthly reports.

Including the milestone arrival dates of major materials and the scheduled execution of Quality Plan (Inspection and Test Plan) for ASME Coded equipments.

To prepare a manpower histogram after resource leveling and manpower allocation calculated from the approved man-hour rates.

To make sure that the budget man-hours should never be exceeded by the actual man-hours utilized.

To make sure that equipments are being completed as mandated by the Contract by close monitoring, relaying feedbacks about the actual status of the projects. Identify critical situations that could jeopardize contractual delivery dates and the reasons of delay, to resolve it with the management team for immediate recovery.

Responsible to prepare a “schedule update” to foresee future unpleasant events that will cause loss of time and money. It usually shows delays per actual progress and will cumulate more delays on the coming weeks unless the management team resolve outstanding issues that causes heavy delay. A "schedule update" gives us warnings/alarms or commendations, which when ignored could cause catastrophe, swiftly or over time.
