Major achievements:
" Managed successfully at both strategic and tactical levels, the IT department of Al Akhawayn University: 2500+ users, a large campus, 3 remote branches and the fastest Internet access in Morocco, ¬ 2M annual budget, 4 divisions, 4 engineers and 18 technicians;
" Defined and implemented a new business-aligned and customer-focused IT vision, strategic plan and organization, recruited more engineers, established a new IT infrastructure, processes and services, and supervised more than 8 major IT projects (¬ 800K) through customer and supplier relationship management;
" Omar's defined vision for the IT department, goes like this: "To become a semi-financially autonomous department, delivering business-aligned, secure and green IT services, through a standard management framework, operated by certified staff.";
" Developed and established the framework (policies, standards and procedures) for a comprehensive, risk-based, cost-effective and proactive Information Security Program;
" Major IT projects include: 1- perimeter and defense-in-depth security through policy, unified threat management, network re-engineering, system hardening and resilience, risk management and continual monitoring, awareness and training; 2- Internet access upgrade with ASN and BGP creation, link fail-over and bandwidth management; 3- Data center (server & storage) and desktop virtualization; 4- Ubiquitous, secure, indoors and outdoors campus wireless access (200 APs, IEEE 802.11b/g/n/i, RADIUS, guests captive portal); 5- HR Management System;
" Engaged in continuing professional development and education and earned some of the most recognized certifications in IT and information security governance and management.
