As a duty manager I was mainly responsible for day-to-day operations. These operations involved preparing daily business reports using Microsoft Office as well as other hotel software such as Opera and Micros, assisting receptionists with check-ins and check-outs and also dealing with issues that have been forwarded to me by fellow-receptionists, customers or colleagues form other departments.
My key responsibilities also included implementation of various SOP’s and staying in charge of training of new and existing staff to assure that my team was able to deliver a high-standard customer service. This particular responsibility has helped me to further develop my communication skills to become better team player and at the same time a stronger team leader.
The vibrant and ever-changing environment, in which the hotel industry operates, required from me to mange busy shifts and to work various shifts (early, afternoon, night) depending on business demand.
Other duties included staying in charge of departmental health and safety. I was responsible for health and safety checks on business premises, choosing suppliers and re-ordering stocks.
