The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a mining company that specializes in gemstones would be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company's mining activities, ensuring that production targets are met, managing the workforce, and implementing strategies to maximize profitability. The COO would also work closely with other senior executives to develop and execute the company's overall business strategy, including identifying new mining opportunities, expanding into new markets, and managing risk. In addition, the COO would be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and environmental standards.
GM’s are responsible for overseeing the overall operations of an organization or business unit. They are responsible for managing various departments, developing and executing strategies, and ensuring that the organization achieves its goals and objectives. The key skills required of a Operations Manager include:
1. Leadership:GM’s must possess strong leadership skills to effectively lead and inspire their teams towards achieving organizational goals. They must be able to motivate and guide their teams to work together towards a common goal.
2. Strategic thinking: GM’s must have the ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives. They must be able to identify opportunities and risks, and develop plans to capitalize on or mitigate them.
3. Financial acumen: GM’s must have a solid understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. They must be able to interpret financial data and make sound decisions based on it.
4. Communication: GM’s must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with their teams, customers, and stakeholders. They must be able to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
5. Problem-solving: GM’s must have strong problem-solving skills to identify and address issues that arise within the organization. They must be able to analyze situations, develop solutions, and implement them effectively.
6. Decision-making: GM’s must be able to make tough decisions under pressure. They must have the ability to weigh the pros and cons of different options and make informed decisions that align with the organization's goals.
7. Customer focus: GM’s must have a strong customer focus and be able to ensure that the organization is meeting the needs of its customers. They must be able to identify customer needs and develop strategies to meet them.

I established this company with the collaboration of a freight forwarding company to trade and market Tea, Coffee and all other Agriculture Produce available in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and East Africa.My responsibilities are to sell bulk, blended and pre packed teas to overseas clients and market Malawi's specialty Coffee and other Agriculture produce such as
White Maize, Beans, Soya, Sunflower, Macadamia, Cashew Nuts, Pigeon Peas ( Toor Dhall), Cow peas, Sugar and Tobacco. Currently consultant on master blending African and other Origin Teas with Ceylon teas for the Multi Origin Tea Market.
My responsibilities was to establish and initiate the 1 st Oil Palm Plantation private venture in Malawi with the collaboration of ASD Group Costa Rica.I was to over see all land purchases, land development and establishing infrastructure in the allocated areas.
My work consisted of all administration and operations in the field, factories and head office in Tea Plantations, Macadamia Plantations, Tobacco Plantations, Dairy and Beef and Sheep farms, Cash crop plantations, At the the Head office handling labor matters, social welfare medical, sports and recreation activities.
In the Black Tea factory, Decaffeinated Tea factory, Macadamia processing factory I was responsible for production and processing, quality control, locall and International sales and marketing.

I was trained and handled all aspects of General Management in Tea Plantations consisting of Field, Tea Factory (proceessing), Blending, Packaging, storage, Sales and marketing Transport, Labor Management, Sports and Welfare, Office administration, Medical, in the capacity of Assistant Superintendent promoted to SeniorAssstant superintendent, Senior Asst.Superintendent In-charge, Acting Superintendent and Superintendent of a large group of Tea Estates in Srilanka.
In 2002 left for Africa in search of greener pastures.
