Responsible on different teams that mange, lead and control bank infrastructure such as Middleware, Storage, IBM iSeries and Database Services.
Key Responsibilities -Database Administration Manager:
• Providing administrative, technical and people leadership for multiple, diverse projects and supporting enterprise systems infrastructure including SAS products, database infrastructure and oracle application servers (Oracle Middleware Fusion).
• Managing the database administrators team, 24x7 availability of mission critical databases in Production environments and helping achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives.
• Providing technical support for the enterprise database environment including setting up infrastructure strategies, technology policies, introducing best practices and preventing business impacting outages.
• Offering strategic inputs in evergreening projects for database infrastructure, Oracle Application server and SAS Products and implementing new technologies for improved availability and performance.
• Overseeing the whole gamut of activities including licensing, agreements and contracts as well as management of SLA's, evergreening, re-engineering, capacity planning, vendor risk management for Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, Sybase and SAS.
• Understanding database structures, theories, and practices, to include Installation, configuration, upgrades and migration whilst constantly optimizing performance and maximizing investment in IT.
• Managing PCI points and audit points related to database platforms and deploying transparent database encryption (TDE) against Oracle and MS Sql 2008.
Key Responsibilities -Database Administration Manager:- Continued:
• Deploying Oracle 11gR2 infrastructure including 8 RAC and 8 single nodes in linux platforms (redhat and SUSE). Upgrading Oracle databases to 11gR2 databases in existing AIX infrastructures for mission critical services.
• Supporting upgrades for DB2 databases from db2 v9.1 to db2 v9.5 and db2 v9.7, Oracle Application Servers 10gR1 and 10gR2 to Oracle Middleware Fusion 11gR2 and engineering critical patch update (CPU) and patchsets against Oracle and fix packs against db2 and service pack against MS SQL. Built patches sheet for bugs.
• Increasing high availability of Call Center service by re-engineering the DB2 database infrastructure by separating the infrastructure of Central province and eastern province call centers.
• Migrating Oracle, db2, MS Sql databases to consolidated environments to reduce the cost and administration complexity as well as shifting databases from old Clarion SAN (Thik LUNS) to new VMAX SAN (Thin LUNS).
• Ensuring high availability and resilience solution for database platforms with RAC, HACMP for DB2, Data Guard, SAN Replication and migrating databases from MS SQL2005 to MS SQL 2008.
• Providing a full range of data management and analytical services including database design & build, analysis & insight and campaign production/management.

Key Responsibilities as Asst. Database Administration Manager:
• Managed (onshore and offshore) Oracle, db2 and MS Sql DBA's for all assigned projects.
• Oversaw the platform, day to day requests, long term projects, and strategy for Oracle, DB2and MS SQL DBA's and recommended most efficient ways for database design and usage.
• Incorporated enhancements in existing systems by analyzing/ identifying areas for modification by automating and controlling procedures using Grid control, shell scripts for housekeeping, corrective action, healthcheck, maintenance, etc.

• Oversaw all aspects of data storage, maintenance, access and security, consolidated the database with different Oracle versions (8i, 9i, 10g) to various Oracle 10gR2 RAC’s or Single node database environments running on AIX.
• Executed new Oracle RAC and Standalone infrastructures for various projects like Open2 (ATM System), Tadawul, Takaful, etc
• Fine-tuned database and system attributes to ensure maximum performance, scalability & high-availability by standardized backup policy to use hot RMAN Backup across all Bank’s Oracle installations.
• Configured Oracle 10gR2 Enterprise Manager Grid Control to use it for administration, monitoring, corrective action, jobs scheduling and automation in addition to administering Oracle data guard in DRC for high-availability.
• Deployed, operated, managed Oracle databases (8i/9i/10g) and Application Servers (9i/10gR1/10gR2) and directed patches, administration in development, test and production environments.
