• Advises organization on any potential risks to the profitability or existence of the company. Identifies and assesses threats, put plans in place for if things go wrong and decide how to avoid, reduce or transfer risks.
• Responsible for managing the risk to the organization, its employees, customers, reputation, assets and interests of stakeholders. He may work in a variety of sectors and may specialize in a number of areas including enterprise risk, corporate governance, regulatory and operational risk, business continuity, information and security risk, technology risk, and market and credit risk.
• Develop and monitor systems to identify and quantify risk exposures.
•Monitor, evaluate the organization’s success in managing its risks.
•Organize appropriate risk reporting, internally and externally.
• Manage the process of identifying and assessing the risks affecting the business.
• Oversee, and in some areas implement, the plan of risk control actions (e.g. purchase of insurance or other risk financing options, health and safety measures, liaison with regulators, business continuity plans).
• Advise management regarding potential risk exposures and propose appropriate levels of insurance.
• Work with the Senior Director, Strategic Finance & Risk Management to supply the brokers and underwriters with information needed to quote the insurance programs, and ensure timely filing of renewal documentation. Prepare and track insurance claims.
• With the Senior Director, Strategic Finance and Risk Management, conduct periodic claim reviews with outside counsel, in house personnel and claims adjusters, as needed.
• As needed/applicable, coordinate with the captive insurance company administrators and accountants to ensure proper claims reporting and financial reporting.
• Support the general ledger close process by reviewing month end claim reporting by the third party administrator, and reviewing insurance expense and reserve accounts for accuracy.
• Support ongoing risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation efforts
• Significantly contribute to/provide leadership in development and maintenance of an Enterprise Risk Management process and model.
• As departmental priorities dictate, participate in Internal Audit projects.
