BSc. Civil Engineering (2:1) Kwame Nkrumah University of Sci & Tech. 2002 - 2006 ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS • Emerged the best Structural designer in my final year’s Civil Engineering Design –an academic module which requires students to design specific aspects of real life projects with the knowledge learned throughout the 4 years. • For my final year thesis, I researched on progressive collapse in structures, where I simulated progressive collapse in a pin-jointed steel truss model using STAAD.Pro Structural Analysis Package and Visual Basic.Net programming language. The objective was to help designers predict the path of collapse in the event where buildings are subjected to loadings outside their design envelope (Terrorist attacks, etc.). Using this analysis, Structural engineers could therefore design structures that have multiple load paths and greater structural robustness, hence a lesser risk to progressive collapse. Such capabilities is very pertinent amid recent spate of Terrorist attacks.
