Setting up, operating and maintaining complex perfusion equipment;
Monitoring circulation;
Regulating the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood;
Regulating the body temperature;
Measuring laboratory values (i.e., arterial/venous blood gases, clotting times); and
Administering medication and blood products through the bypass circuit (under the supervision and direction of the anesthesiologist and surgeon)
Amrita is a 1300-bed tertiary referral and teaching hospital, which offers facilities comprising 28 modern operating theatres.Having 3 Adult cardiac operation theatres with 13 bedded ICU and 2 Pediatric cardiac operation theatres with 12 bedded ICU and 2 cathlabs. Doing more than 150 open heart operations per month. The Pediatric Heart Program at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was awarded BMJ-India 2014 Health care award under the Quality Improvement Category.
