Responsible for Maersk Line’s Commercial and Operational Activities
- Led a team of 6 colleagues in this position
Highlights:
- Increased revenue via local charges increase for both dry and special containers like reefers and
special cargo.
- Increase in these charges brought an extra USD 100, 000 (10% increase) every year.
- A rebate scheme tied to volume was successfully led and negotiated with top exporters which
ensured that these exports had much more predictability.
- Gained 6000 teus from these deals.
- Successfully led negotiations for a dedicated container yard from the port where damage to our
containers from the elements during monsoon was eliminated leading to reduced claims from
customers.
- As a result of the achievements, I was promoted to the position of Managing Director in June 2008

Highlights:
- We received the best shipping line award from Mangalore Port Authority in 2005 as we grabbed the
premium business of candle exports from Mangalore for an American Company apart from seafood
exports out of Mangalore port.
- One of the biggest success stories of my tenure was securing the reefer exports of seafood and
garments business out of South India primarily out of Cochin and Tuticorin.
- Acquisition of specialised cargo exports, mainly oversized machinery from Cochin, Goa and
Coimbatore was another achievement I am proud of.

Lead 5 colleagues and together with a team of IT developers directly support 400+ colleagues in
Strategy Creation, Marketing and Transformation.
- We create and support tools and processes for Direction Setting (Strategy Creation), Market
Intelligence, Marketing, Trade Transformation and the Maersk Line Operating System.
- We are responsible for creating and keeping up to date Six Sigma level processes and IT systems for
Trade and Marketing both at HQ and Clusters globally.
- I personally am a sponsor for Green Belt and lead a team of Black Belt and Green Belt professionals
to ensure maximum process optimisation and improvement.
Highlights:
- Together with the stakeholders I led and deployed an interactive IT based target setting tool which
assists direction setting for Centre Trade Managers
- Changed the strategy focus from internal focus to a customer focussed segment strategy.
- To enable customer focus, we have created digital dashboards for viewing customer churn and
volume performance at granular levels.
- Personally, contributed to the role by giving business insights developed over many years which
enables the best possible strategy creation at HQ level and execution globally in the clusters
worldwide.
- We got the execution of marketing advisories outsourced to the Global Service Centres from the
clusters leading to substantial savings (6 FTE hours per week per cluster)
- Improved standards and quality of customer advisories. This has resulted in the highest customer
satisfaction score (Net Promoter Score) of 6.6 which is the highest in the history of Maersk Line.
- We have created an interactive online guidebook which will give users in the global clusters access
to information relevant to execution of their jobs through detailed process maps and hiring decisions
through job descriptions, reporting lines and organisation structures
