From the pangs of recession was born ‘LikeMinds’, a communication & design consultancy that a couple of us friends began in 2009. Along with the freedom of working for myself came the huge challenge of building and keeping a business. The learning in the process has been both elevating and humbling. Coordinating with client servicing, production, studio & translators on all jobs and briefs & ensuring prompt delivery was part of my responsibility here. Samsung Digital, Abbott Nutrition, Reckitt Benckiser, IsaGold.ae, Bakemart Plus, Cafe Ristretto and Food Specialities Ltd. are now part of my portfolio.
'Offshoring' was an idea I always related to IT and the USA. However, I worked with Fishtree, an integrated marketing solutions company in Dubai, for almost
four years based out of India on brands such as Paragon, Jewel Corner, Berger, Liftek and the Centena Group. Every morning while others took a ride to our office at Garhoud, I logged in and arrived right on time!
AGA ADK gifted me the experience of working in a cosmopolitan environment and the association with global brands like Sony Ericsson, Bridgestone, Toshiba & regional names like Interiors, Freej & Abu Dhabi Mall. Being part of a bigger creative team and writing for PR was new to me.
The real estate boom was on and every brand was advertising in a hurry. Consequently, I was required to think faster and churn out creative work within hours of briefing. Working on print, TV, radio, BTL at a break-neck speed, Watermelon, taught me to handle pressure and deadlines.
Here’s where I took baby steps into advertising! Amber Communications groomed me into a creative thinker and copywriter. From being a trainee writer I went on to handle accounts like Himalaya Herbals, Dulux, ID Design, Bosch, Barakat and Joyalukkas Jewellery. These early years are fondly remembered for the invaluable education it has allowed me, and the sheer joy of being part of a great team.
