♦ Transferred from Caterpillar India to Caterpillar Sanford to support Design and Development of Skid Steer Loader (SSL) and Mini Hydraulic excavator (MHE) manufactured in Sanford, North Carolina.
♦ Managed Production line from Engineering for SSL products with overall accountability of field issues using 6 Sigma tools and CPI methodology for SSL products.
♦ Oversaw end to end activities including engineering change to Manufacturing implementation through Team Center Enterprise, a PLM.
♦ Prepared the documented design inputs, reviewed the engineering drawings and the documented design.
♦ Supported new product development and product improvement projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.
♦ Prepared, analyzed and reviewed the equipment in consideration with the material parameters.

* Resolving the field issues in the Mini Hydraulic Excavator (MHE)
* Grease Leakage and the bearing failure are the issues faced in the idler group (Track Tensioner) system of 1.8 Ton MHE.
* The root cause for the failure modes was identified and new design was arrived by working with supplier through CPPD.
* Test circuit was developed and the new design was validated. This project involved working with Product groups in Sanford, US & Leicester, UK and supplier at Japan.
♦ Lead NPI Project: * Redesigned upper frame for SSL to reduce cost.
* The objective of the project is to reduce the cost of the frame across SSL models. The potential areas were to reduce the weight (steel content) and make the 2-piece design into a single piece frame, to reduce the logistics cost and assembly time (Takt time)

♦ Indigenization, Redesign and Development of Backhoe Loader Cabin (DMAIC project)
* The goal was to offer a regionalized cabin meeting the Critical Customer Requirements (CCR) and achieve cost reduction (Critical Business Requirement - CBR) through simplification of design.
* The project delivered benefit of $450 per cabin.
♦ Stabilizer Tube and Cylinder Pin Design of Backhoe Loader (DMAIC project) .
* Identified as a CPI project due to frequent failure of stab tube and pins, a complete redesign of the tube and pin was done.
* Successfully obtained patent for the design invention for stabilizer mechanism.
♦ Lift arm failure issue of Backhoe Loader (DMAIC project)
* The Project scope was to avoid the lift arm failure, which accounted for a warranty cost of 8600 USD. Root cause analysis was carried out and failure was identified due to design and manufacturing issue.
♦ 424 Boom assembly bearing sleeve walk away and cracks (DMAIC project)
* Identified as a CPI project due to frequent failure of bearing sleeve, and accounted to a warranty cost of 6000 USD
* Design was implemented in production and failure is avoided.
♦ Redesigned clamp cylinder piston to improve reliability in backhoe loader - 6 Sigma DMAIC Project.
* The cylinder is used to lock slide frame in BHL during backhoe operation failed (leakage), resulting ineffective locking. To avoid leakage the piston was designed with suitable seals to withstand the load. The project saves a warranty cost of $30, 000 annually and improves customer satisfaction.
