I am writing this letter to recommend Dr. Kamran Azam. I know him as a researcher, since Feb, 2014 when he was pursuing his PhD at Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia. In Pakistan, he involved me for launching an MS program in Disaster Management at RIPHAH International University, Islamabad. Currently, he is Assoc. Prof of Disaster Management and HRD and Head of Department at Leadership & Management Studies, National Defense University. We have been jointly working on the following projects: i. Issues, Dynamics and Implications of Disaster Management in Pakistan ii. Multiple Hazards, Vulnerabilities, Coping Capacities, Disaster Risks and Resilience Assessment of District Peshawar. iii. Institutional Development of Disaster Management Center and its six level training programs. iv. Networking for DBAR International Center of Excellence in Integrated Research and Digital Earth. I have seen his proposal on “Mainstreaming the Coping Capacities for Risk Reduction and Resilience through Community Centered Trans-Durand Diplomacy”. The topic is significant to be pursued at world leading university with implications for Pakistan. I have found him a hardworking, dedicated and innovative researcher. He has dedicated interest and enthusiasm in learning new techniques and knowledge in emerging fields with a strong social network. Based on the above facts, I feel no hesitation in recommending Dr. Azam I wish him all the best in future career.
