Explain the X-ray procedure to patients, prepare patients for the procedure and position them for the best possible
outcome. Additionally, operate the X-ray and testing equipment, develop x-ray films, repair diagnostic equipment
and keep patient's testing records. As an X-ray techs i must observe proper safety procedures to avoid unnecessary
exposure to harmful radiation. I’m also responsible for obtaining valuable diagnostic information to assist doctors,
basically i work alongside doctors, nurses and other health care personnel. As an X-ray technician i’m trained to
manipulate and operate X-ray equipment so that pictures of diseases or injuries can be captured and diagnosed
clearly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
01. Prepare and set up x-ray room for patient.
02. Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
03. Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
04. Position x-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
05. Position patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body
area as requested by physician.
06. Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
07. Make exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet
established standards.
08. Process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer generated methods.
09. Assure that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment are present and in
working order, requisitioning materials as necessary.
10. Maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed, views taken, and technical factors used.
11. Provide assistance to physicians or other technologists in the performance of more complex procedures.
12. Monitor equipment operation and report malfunctioning equipment to the person encharge.
13. Coordinate work of other technicians or technologists when procedures require more than one person.
14. Assist with on-the-job training of new employees and students, and provide input to supervisors regarding
training performance.
15. Maintain a current file of examination protocols.

15. Provide assistance in radiopharmaceutical administration, monitoring patients' vital signs and notifying the
radiologist of any relevant changes.
16. Prepare contrast material, radiopharmaceuticals and anesthetic or antispasmodic drugs under the direction
of a radiologist.
17. Provide students and other technologists with suggestions of additional views, alternate positioning or improved
techniques to ensure the images produced are of the highest quality.
18. Perform procedures such as linear tomography, mammography, sonograms, joint and cyst aspirations, routine
contrast studies, routine fluoroscopy and examinations of the head, trunk, and extremities under supervision of physician.
